Where's the HTC Incredible? Oh wait, it's not outdated yet.

You would think the biggest cell phone company with the largest network would be able to offer the most technologically advanced handsets at launch. Nope. They wait till the next step in technology hits the horizon and throws garbage to their customers. Then with a cruel smack in the face, offer bogo for some really outdated crap to clear inventory to uneducated consumers who don't know anybetter. Talk about greedy. Like the Omnia 2. Returned it the second day I had it. Now I am going to return the Droid. Next stop, HTC Supersonic from Sprint. At least it will be cutting edge at release. Can't wait to kiss these high plans goodbye. Why leave such valuable and loyal customers in the dark, while all the other carrier's customers have all the fun. This sucks.

I am frustrated as well. I wanted the DROID but wasn't due for a upgrade till February. By then the I just knew the DROID2 or something better would come out the minute I buy the DROID. So I decided to wait to see what comes out. So far nothing and I am getting impatient. I heard about the Incredible a while ago and have been waiting to buy it and use my upgrade. But if they don't release it soon I will change carriers. I have been with Verizon 10 years and I just might have to go elsewhere!!!! RELEASE THE INCREDIBLE ALREADY (MAYBE A RELEASE DATE AT LEAST) OR AT LEAST STOP THE RUMORS THAT ITS COMING OUT. THAT JUST MAKES THINGS WORSE. STOP BEING SO TIGHTLIPPED.

Sent VZW an email today saying that i was switching carriers because of no good phones, got a call within 20 minutes from a lady on the VZW 'elite' team stating that they have a great deal on the buy one get one DROID.....I have been a VZW customer for 7 years and am very disappointed...sprint or ATnT???

Completely agree. I've been with them for over 10 years as well and I'm getting tired of using junky phones. I waited for my contract to expire so I can use my upgrade and I'm still sitting here w/a junky phone and nothing to use my upgrade on. I haven't wanted to deal w/AT&T, but I think I'll have to deal w/their bad service so I can get a decent phone. It's ridiculous that they can't offer something competitive.

I'm feeling very inclined to agree. A lot of people do. Take a hint, Verizon. You are losing customers over this. Not going to lose, losing. I've heard at least three people say they are leaving Verizon. Other networks have phones out *now* that are what everyone wants so I highly doubt there will be tears if/when the Incredible is launched.

I agree with you all as well. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to switch carriers but up here in WY I am bent over a rock. I have no way around it. VZW is the only carrier that offers halfway decent service. Any other carrier has never even heard of my state! No coverage at all. So low and behold I am stuck with these clueless ying yangs. :smileysad:

Completely agree with cdilson. I love the network but will quickly move to another carrier if Verizon doesn't get anything better than the Droid. Give me a break....I'm sick of waiting while the other carriers have the good phones....

What does Sprint HAVE (not announced, actually have) that is better than the Droid?

At&t? And don't come at me with the Iphone, because having used both I think the Droid is the better phone (personal opinion)

T-mobile? Yes they have the N1, but Verizon will be getting it as well

I guess you could go to Metro PCS to get the new Samsung LTE Smartphone WHEN it comes out.

I have been a customer with Verizon for the past 4.5 years and I am very disappointed that Verizon speaks of customer service and satisfaction being important, but does not practice what they preach. The company is always behind other companies in offering the latest phones and does not care what their customers want or think.

After this weeks CTIA show, I feel the executives at Verizon are truly Incompetent In competing with the Wireless phone companies. They should have been the first to launch the 4G LTE network not Sprint, they should have negotiated with APPLE for the Iphone 4G, and should have had the HTC Incredible or the EVO 4G Supersonic to introduce on the Verizon network. They have the money from almost 80 million customers. What are they doing with the money? Why are we blindly waiting for the HTC Incredible or the Nexus One? They continue to display there incompetent marketing skills and I am educating myself and moving on to another competent Wireless company such as Sprint or AT&T. Verizon customers can wait another two years for the phone they want today that has been out on other networks years before.

It never ceases to amaze me that American consumers so stoutly defend capitalism yet have no idea how it works. "What are they doing with the money?" It's a thing called "dividends for shareholders" and "shoring up stock price." If and when "caring what their customers want or think" impacts their bottom line, VZW (like any corporation) will "practice what they preach."

VZW has been extraordinarily successful (more than any other carrier) following a strategy that emphasizes coverage and deemphasizes the bells and whistles that so many on forums such as this believe are important. That's how they got the "80 million customers" that provided the money you believe should be spent on providing new phones that they haven't needed to attract those "80 million customers" in the first place.

I'm sure that VZW would have been happy to add the iPhone to the network. Likewise for the EVO 4G. But at what cost? AT&T has to have the iPhone and is willing to pay a pretty penny to make it an exclusive relationship. Sprint desperately needs to reverse the decline in their customer base. They, too, are no doubt willing to risk a signficant investment to have a phone like the EVO 4G. Should Verizon have outbid both AT&T and Sprint to have those phones? If you think so, I doubt you're a VZW shareholder.

Ok well Verizon lost billions of dollars last quarter so no they dont have all that money to spend on new phones maybe do some research before you blindly throw out figures that you have no clue about. If you hate verizon so much then go to another carrier and find out you will have more problems with worse coverage yeah they may have a better phone(for the time being) but once verizon drops something top of the line you will be complaining about how you wished you stayed with Verizon.

What other carrier has better phones than the DROID right now? Besides T-Mobile, who has the Nexus One.

I think Verizon has the obvious best selection of phones to offer right now (maybe not come summer). Plus they offer the Droid phones for pretty cheap compared to other carriers.

So, I don't get why anyone is complaining.

But, if you're really sad about how good the Moto Droid and Droid Eris are and you can't deal with them, then by all means, quit complaining on here and switch already.

That's just my recommendation.

I agree. I won't get another phone until it is guaranteed to be better than every other phone for a period no less than 5 years. And if they won't give me that I will switch to an inferior network with inferior phone selections.

I am sorry. You can not buy a phone that will not be surpassed within 6 months. The Droid actually had a fairly long reighn but part of the issue is it isn't easy to get giants to change business practice. You talk like it is so easy. The iPhone is just like the iPod it was only cutting edge in marketing. I will say that the iPhone was slightly different. It wasn't the top dog as far as equipment very long and it was extremely locked down but it was the first phone to open the networks up to truely smart phones. It even changed the way Blackberry and others did business. Windows mobile seems to have never transitioned into phones very well but eventually Android came to be. Many had been trying to create a linux OS for phones but it took the iPhone to open the door for such openness. Verizon didn't take the iPhone (it was offered the iPhone first and rejected it) because they were not ready for the kind of open networking the iPhone required. The carriers had a long history of being in control and being able to dictate what ran on their network and what didn't. AT&T took a big risk on the iPhone. Even though it was what people wanted and it had one of the largest advertising giants at pretty much the peak of their popularity behind it they still took a huge gamble bringing the phone on to their network. It paid off and it paid off in spades. Then came blackberry app world and whatever joke Microsoft came up with and then Android. T-Mobile had a long run as the sole provider of Android phones which was odd but no one knew if it would work. I mean Linux on a phone in this kind of market but little old T-mo did well with it. I mean for their size they did really well. Meanwhile Android was taking off in Europe and Asia but wasn't alone. Phones running various types of Linux had been around so it wasn't unfamiliar. Google took a risk though and it took forever for it to catch on. However, once phones were carrying it in America it took only a little over 2 years for it to be on every major and a few minor cell phone provider network. The thing about Android is that before that a few small companies drove phone technology. The closest thing we had to openness was Windows Mobile phones which have never sold well because the operating system and apps are weak. Now there is Android the only other Operating system not owned by a phone company so control of the technology is out of their hands. Apple releases a new version about every 2 years or so, Blackberry a little more often but in each type set about every year or two. Android phones come out in droves. They are selling well and it is obvious that people are hungry for the next great thing so the phone companies can play to their hearts content. The upside is there is always something awesome around the corner and the technology is growing rapidly the downside is that your phone feels like a dinousaur after 2 or 3 months. It is awesome for everyone involved because we come and geek out about how awesome the next thing is and get mad and some even go so far as to find a way to buy it just to stay ahead. Everyone loves that because it keeps pushing and keeps driving advancement.

What i find aggrivating is that it appears there are a lot of people I am assuming teens that seem to think that they should be able to upgrade every 6 months with a $300 subsidy on every phone or they should get an advanced piece of technology for free every 6 months so they can stay ahead of the joneses. You aren't entitled to a new phone whenever you want one. It doesn't make business sense to do that at all. Verizon isn't being greedy, they are practicing business. They aren't ignoring our desires they are cautiously advancing. They don't currently have the next great thing because while they were buying the Droid someone else was working on snapdragon phones. Soon Verizon will have the big dog again then someone else. Also I wouldn't be too impressed with T-Mobile's new network upgrade (essentially a 3.5G) or Sprint's new network (4G which is really just an upgrade on their current system). When the real 4 G is launched it will blow those away. However, it will also be on a much larger scale. T-mo and Sprint went for cheaper alternatives that they could push out. Probably currently in major metropolitons and then will branch out later. Verizon and AT&T are working on the real deal because they don't have to rush to push something out. T-mo and Sprint are willing to take bigger risks because they need something flashy to bring in customers. Verizon and AT&T are large enough with stable enough wide coverage they can spend the money and take the time to launch a real solution when it is ready to go widespread.

So if all of you feel the need to switch to Sprint or T-mo then feel free. This week they may have the coolest things launching soon but what happens when it's Verizon's turn? Besides I like the capability to make and receive calls.

You have every right to be dissatisfied but we all reserve the right to point out to you that whatever you are looking for isn't out yet. There is only currently one processor more powerful that the one in the Droid. There isn't a screen with higher resolution or any larger. The Nexus 1 has a brighter one but it has severe touch recognition issues. Hardwarewise you will be hard pressed to improve on the Droid right now anywhere. The EVO 4g does seem like it will be a cool phone if you happen to live, work and do all your travel with in the range of the 1 Sprint tower in your area. I don't so I am not interested.

Now I say all this as a person patiently waiting for the Incredible to come out so I can buy it for my dad and swap it for my Droid. So kind of hypocritical of me sure but I never use the physical keypad and I know he would get more out of it than whatever happens to be available to him for free right now. So he gets a free Droid and I get the next great phone. Ah the good life.
