Does anyone when know when ICS will arive for droid incredible 2 or any other HTC devices for that matter?
Nope. It has only been confirmed that the Dinc2 is scheduled to get ICS.
/news/2012/03/bl2012-03-06.html
The Rezound is scheduled to get ICS on 5.9.12 from what I have seen.
I would really like to know when the Incredible 2 will get some ICS love.
Maybe in May or the the end of June is my guess, hopefully soon.
I am currently looking forward to the release of the Droid incredible 4g.
Where did you hear the 5.9.12 date?
I wasn't impressed with what i have seen about DInc4G so far. With the release of the One series, I thought HTC would have come up with something more stylish for it's only droid phone.
The one thing I mss about the iPhone is that they updated their OS regularly and did major overhauls annually around the same time. It seems Android updates are released and then trickle into the field. By the time we got Gingerbread ICS had already been released. I have a feeling Jelly Bean will be out and we'll all be drooling over its features when HTC and Verizon roll out ICS for the Inc 2.
Here...

And a bunch of other places too, we'll see...I hope the Dinc2 is next on the list!
I heard by the end of August 2012
I believe that it was actually said that HTC was going to determine if the Dinc2 would be getting the ICS update by the end of August.
I contacted HTC and was told to contact Verizon because Verizon will control when it comes out. It appears that all involved are more interested in selling the newest phones and are trying to convince us to upgrade that way.
honestly the date for ICS on the HTC Droid Incredible 2 just keeps getting pushed back over and over and its a shame considering the popularity of the phone... i would say if you want ICS you're better off installing a different ROM on your new phone
This just makes me wonder if they keep track of how many people jump carriers over this update dearth and until it becomes enough they just won't care. I also agree that they want to push us into new phones to get us off our unlimited plans. Anyway from seeing how few posts really are on this thread since the original in April, why should they care. I'm not pointing fingers away from myself either cause I haven't been here before now. Let's just hope that after the DNA release that they will take care of us who have waited patiently for real customer service.
Agree. And honestly by now I don't even care which way it goes, just give us a definite answer: Yes the Dinc2 is getting it or no it's not. So we can move on and plan accordingly.
I will add my request then!
I don't care about ICS anymore. That ship sailed long ago. My contract is up in 4 months and I can can tell you, my next phone will not be an HTC nor will it be on Verizon.
Well I can definitely say that between the delay on Android ICS update for my Incredible 2, and the new "Share Everything" Plan, that I am seriously planning to jump ship when my contract is up Feb of 2013. It is obvious that Verizon is not concerned about the satisfaction and happiness of their customers. US Cellular is looking better everyday.
You might want to check the coverage. I would have switched by now, but Verizon has service in places I go on vacation, etc., that many other carriers do not.
Is there anyone out there that is honestly falling for the "Share Everything" crap? How could anyone think that going from unlimited data to sharing any amount of LIMITED data is an improvement. Especially when the price for that limited data is the same price or more then the price we pay for unlimited. Everyone should leave Verizon when their contract is up, like I will be doing, even if the coverage isn't as great elsewhere. Enough people leave Verizon for this crap, the quicker Verizon will get off their thumbs. Sad, sad, sad Verizon!!!!
Just wanted Verizon to Know some of are STILL waiting for the ICS Update for the Incredible2
The last I heard of this, which was a tweet from HTC way back in mid-November, HTC was working on "connectivity issues." I've pretty much given up. I've had this phone long enough that I'm eligible for an upgrade this month anyway.
I've had great luck with the phone, but this issue has pretty much killed any chance that I'll be going with an HTC phone when the contract is up in February. They apparently have no interest or ability to support their products.
Maybe its time to dump Verizon as well. Either HTC and/or Verizon should say that the upgrade definitely will or won't happen. Quite frankly, the only reason I have stayed with Verizon is I am grandfathered for the unlimited data plan. Gotta wonder if that will disappear in time. When that happens, so will I. Verizon's customer service is terrible. I had a problem with syncing my Hotmail. After waiting a day to talk to someone, I was shuffled, first to HTC, then to Microsoft, who said the issue was Verizon's. This is sort of like buying a bad steak from Safeway and having them say that " it is the Wyoming rancher's fault, so take it up with him". Verizon actually sent me a replacement phone which had the same problem. I sent the replacement back, it was too much trouble to set up another phone the way I like it.
This DInc2 is definitely my last HTC phone, and maybe also my last Android device as well. iPhone 5 is looking pretty good to me for my upgrade this spring.
Say what you will about iPhones, whatever Apple-haters may be out there, I'd like to have my phone's OS kept up to date for at least the two years of my contract. That doesn't seem to happen with Android devices, but even the iPhone 4 (albeit with that model's hardware limitations) is running the latest version of iOS.
I agree with you SharkmaMan. Many apps on the app store will not run because we are on such an old rev. This has cost both HTC and Verizon a customer. I have never seen two companies be so unprofessional about an issue. The Nexus 4 is looking good. T-Mobile offers it and since it's considered Google's phone, the updates seem to be pretty quick.
This is why, aside from my miniusb port being broken, I decided to go for an upgrade as soon as I can. As nice as the M7 looks (despite agreeing that it looks like a HTC DNA as well), I think I will be be switching to Samsung Galaxy S4 when it comes out. I loved my HTC phone but given it's upgrade history. We got gingerbread fast but ICS...this has been a losing battle. Plus our phones are eligible for Jellybean. We have the RAM and everything.
Honestly, I hate to admit this but this is probably the wave of the future. Promise a certain update and never release it after a year and a half of the phone being out in hopes of people buying new phone.
No offense holisk, but I think that is the exact thinking that got us where we are. Why should Verizon put money and resources into releasing the image? If you get irritated enough, you will send them another $200 for an upgraded phone. I don't think that if I buy a phone, it will last forever, but I do have a problem with these manufacturers and providers making the decision on when I upgrade out of necessity. I don't think I should need a new phone every 18 months like clockwork, but its all about them making money, not providing quality. As far as the microUSB port being broken, mine was too. Amazon, under $8 got me the part and the tools needed to replace it. There are many videos on YouTube showing the process, the Inc/Inc2 are very easy to replace the microUSB port on. It took me about 15 minutes to fix.
It's not Verizon that's holding up the update, it's HTC... HTC is responsible for releasing the update, then Verizon will push it out. At this point HTC hasn't even finished things on their end.
I love my iPhone for the fact that its always updated when a new release is available, and can't stand that Android is like a roulette wheel for updates. My fiancé hates that she's not getting the update, and won't be buying another HTC phone because of that, and the lack of an abundance of accessories. It seems that the Galaxy series is the way to go if you want both of those, and once the S4 is released, we'll be upgrading her to that...
Sorry to inform you, but if you want to upgrade your phone with a subsidized plan, i.e. not pay full price, then you will have to give up your unlimited data. But the good news is that you can share your limited data among all your devices.... sarcasim is soooo hard to do by text.
I bailed. decided to stop waiting for a long overdue upgrade to my phone and the os. was deciding between the galaxy s3 and the droid dna. guess which one i picked? it wasn't the htc...
Any hope at all for getting ICS or Jelly Bean on the Incredible 2?
Or is it just more broken promises from Verizon?
HTC Can't figure out why their sales dropped off the planet. This is it guys. It you abandon you customers your customers will abandon you.
HTC is really bad at sending out updates on their phones. The original droid incredible was updated from 2.1 to 2.2 then to 2.3. Why can't they send out an update to the incredible 2? Also the incredible 4g may never get 4.1. It can support 4.1 because it has the same specs as the Motorola Droid 4 and that phone got android 4.1.Then there is the Droid DNA which is a really nice phone but once again it will probably never get an android update like 4.2 4.3 or 4.4. With my next upgrade I think I'm gonna stick with Samsung, LG, or Motorola. Sorry HTC! Maybe when you realize this I will purchase another one of your phones.
