Blinking Dialer Screen

I have a Motorola Droid. Is there a way to keep the phone pad screen from blinking when on a call? It is especially annoying when I am accessing voice mail, or other services where i have to enter a number. There should be a setting to leave this on, or let it blink.

Try checking on your animation or orientation settings for your phone. They both play a part in the display of your screen and could be the possible issue. If they are enabled, try removing these features to see if this resolves the issue and that goes for if they are not enabled, enable them to see if that makes a difference.

You can access these settings by following these steps:

-To set orientation, touch Menu > Settings > Sound & display > Orientation.

- To set animation, touch Menu > Settings > Sound & display > Animation.

You are probably getting your finger too close to the proximity sensor. It is there to keep you from accidentally hitting buttons with your face while you are on a call. On the DROID it appears to be right next to the blinking notification light. On a call if your finger or too much heat gets too close to it then it will shut off. Probably it is all in how you are holding the phone and it blinks because you move the finger closest to it.

Happens to me a lot and is very annoying. But, I've noticed 2 things. If you try to hang up while holding the phone flat it blinks on and off like crazy. If you hold the phone horizontally it normally will not blink. I hate it too!

Ok i just tested and the proximity sensor seems to actually be about half an inch in from the far left of the phone between the earpiece and the phone. If you call *228 you get a decent call that you don't have to listen to and it takes a minute so you can play with it. if your finger gets within about a half inch cube or so from about the earpiece to midway between it and the left side of the phone the screen goes blank. If you are holding the phone with any of your fingers anywhere near that little cube it will go blank. I was wrong about the location but I believe that I am correct about the solution. Hold your phone another way and it will be fine.
