Came across this today, though y'all should know. http://www.vzbuzz.com/2012/03/htc-thunderbolt-part-of-an-htc-user-test-for-ice-cream-sandwich/ Guess an ICS update actually IS in the works, now if we could just get some more info on ICS for the Rezound.
Yayuh!
So just wondering I recently up graded to the Razzr Max, but still have my T-bolt. Curently use it around the house with WiFi, and let my oldest son use it. Plan to eventualy activate it for him once I know it's not going to be destroyed in less the 24 hours.(He is a Pre Teen ther hard on electronics:)
Anyway it serves as a backup incase somehting happens to my Max as well. This being said I want to keep it as up to date as posable so IF and when the Update rolls out (Im seriosly not holding my breath) for the T-bolt will I still be able to receve it OTA even thou it is not activated?? I know my OG Droid was able to do this and my wifes Droid 2 Global coudl as well but thouse wher Moto phones and Im not as familuer with HTC phones..
I'm pretty sure it has to be activated to receive any OTA updates. That being said, as soon as you do reactivate it, the OTA should be pushed to the phone.
im just happy they are really going along with this update thing hopefully the testing will be useful
i believe demmo is right. however, i thought that was the case with all phones, so i'm not sure how your old droids got updates pushed to them? in any case, you could activate the tbolt on your line, get the update, and then activate you maxx on your line.
Could be done manually if the update file was made available.
We have an actual official announcement from Verizon Wireless now (shocking I know!)
http://news.verizonwireless.com/news/2012/03/bl2012-03-06.html
Now all we need is a time frame.
A time frame was definitely missing from that press release wasn't it?
Let the anticipation begin!
im not too concerned with the lack of a time frame....im just more concerned that they do thorough testing and not rush it
http://www.htcnews.net/htc-applications-and-software/htc-thunderbolt-to-get-android-4-0-ics-soon/
not sure how reputable this is....but I guess soon if they are correct
"We will continue to update this list as additional details become available throughout the year."
Don't hold your breath. Verizon must have 1 developer that works on updates for ALL of their Android phones. The Thunderbolt won't see an ICS update till 2013. Well after Jelly Bean, or whatever Google names it, is released. Remember when it got Gingerbread? ICS was already released and was being seen on other devices before the 'Bolt saw GB. Obviously HTC and Verizon have never heard of Extreme Programming.
Wake me up next year...
Checked Verizon Wireless website today and under support for the TB it said update coming. Hopefully it will be ICS.
most likely it is the small update that has been rumored for a few weeks
sorry....but it's not. it's just a minor update. no ICS :smileysad:
The others are correct: http://phandroid.com/2012/05/09/htc-thunderbolt-update-2-11-605-19-prepped-verizon-posts-changelog/
Yes, I really dont think the Thunderbolt will be getting ICS yet.
The Thunderbolt is scheduled to get ICS according to both HTC and Verizon Wireless. When it happens is another story.
According to the latest information, the Thunderbolt is expected to get ICS in July/August of this year.

now should see Jelly Bean probably in 2020
Doubtful. I am surprised that the Thunderbolt will be getting ICS. Jelly Bean would be wonderful, but I don't expect it.
I was talking to a Verizon Rep on Saturday and he told me that the ICS update for the Thunderbolt has starting rolling out. He said they are rolling it out in stages. He wasn't sure how they are selecting which phones get the update.
The support doc still shows the minor update pushed out a month or so ago. 2.11.605.19 710RD
If they are sending out the ICS update, it is in the early testing phase.
The only ICS update that is currently rolling out is for the RAZR line.
the software on my thunderbolt is the 2.2.1......is there another update after that and i just havnt gotten it or what? if so how do i get the latest?
Oh, boy! Yes there are several updates. I need my laptop to better explain.

From the main screen choose MENU>SETTINGS>SOFTWARE UPDATE>CHECK NEW
Currently I am 2.3.4
Aug 28, 2012 and still no ICS. When is this coming? SHEESH!
it's coming, but it will probably be a few more weeks. there is a leak version out there so it's close.
There is a leaked version floating around and, from what I've read, it's not quite ready yet, still a few kinks to work out. When it's ready, they will push it.
it's pretty good though. besides the battery life, it's solid, with the proper radio.
Demmo did you get the Update for Google maps i heard ones were having issues with the App on there Rezounds i didn't see that many issues with my Maxx but i went ahead and Updated any way..
I did get it, but I don't use Maps all that often. Every thing I have seen said that the issue is fixed for the Rezound.
