htc rezound ice cream sandwich update

I found that htc has finished the ice cream sandwich update and passed it on to verizon to allow subscribers to install. Verizon still has not released this update to their subscribers. Is there a time frame for this to happen? Andriod has just announced the newest operating system "Jelly Bean". How much longer will Verizon make their customers wait for this system update?

i'm guessing making people wait for a new shiny interface is more profitable than replacing 3million phones over night because of a bad update

Seems like I heard somewhere that they needed to roll out the updates on the Droid-branded phones first. Maybe a contractual obligation? So all the Rezound customers are getting all ticked off at HTC while it's really Verizon's fault, so HTC is letting people know that it's ready and out of their hands.

Agreed I believe this is why when HTC posted that the update was ready and the news broke they had to quickly pull it down. However the damage was done by then and people started wondering what the heck was going on. So it shows you the update is ready it's VZW who's at fault here. They're probably just sitting on the update until finally the Droid Razr & MAXX updates are finished. But for me I don't wanna hear the excuses of why it was posted then pulled and why VZW hasn't nor HTC came forward with a reason as to why this happened. I want to know why that with every device on VZW takes forever to get updated? Why does it seem like if you don't have the newest phone on VZW that updates really don't start rolling out on their network until the new Android OS is announced? (i.e. Jelly Bean)

Why were we told EARLY 2012 for ICS? And if Q3 2012 is early for HTC & VZW their Martha Focking calender & watches are really off. I'm sick of updates for our devices being put on hold for BLOATWARE THAT NOBODY WANTS! Then we're forced to keep them on the phone unless we root which ruins out warranty. Once we buy the phones THEY NO LONGER BELONG TO YOU HTC OR VERIZON they're ours to do with as we please. If we don't want VCAST apps then we shouldn't be forced to have it on our devices. PC computers/Laptops don't force you to keep their bloatware on them once you buy it you can uninstall. Like we should be able to do. This goes for every carrier that does this.

I saw a post earlier where the guy had written HTC asking about the ICS update and the email replied with something along the lines of... "Hi sorry about the delay on the update. "We here at HTC understand the frustration of waiting on a highly anticipated update as this, but unfortunately we don't have an exact date as to when this will be updated. We are HOPING for it to be updated in July. So check our Facebook, Twitter, BLAH BLAH GARBAGE etc. etc.."

Now the guy who posted this was saying ok people it will be here in July and it was supposed to be out EARLY 2012 and they already said they were shooting for June/July time frame anyways. So this isn't news. Sorry for the rant guys. I'm sick of total darkness and not transparency when it comes to these updates. Especially when HTC jumps the gun posts that it's ready then pulls it and nobody says a word as to why. They all play dumb. This is detrimental to National Security this is an update that should've been out months ago. My next phone will be bought from Google since they're putting out 5 new Nexus devices straight from them and sold on the Play Store. I believe every major carrier will have one and the BEST NEWS that GOOGLE will be handling the Updates bypassing carriers altogether. You know like the GREEDY Tyrants they are.

Whenever any sort of time frame is released, official or otherwise, and the "deadline" is missed, everybody starts crying and threatening lawsuits. Especially when HTC jumps the gun posts that it's ready then pulls it and nobody says a word as to why. They all play dumb. I believe every major carrier will have one I doubt that, Verizon and Sprint are both on CDMA networks, which use proprietary binaries. Most likely those two carriers will always have carrier branded devices, even if they are named Nexus and the BEST NEWS that GOOGLE will be handling the Updates bypassing carriers altogether. You haven't been following the GNex updates, have you? Verizon still required their network testing and it took a lot longer to get the update versus the unbranded Nexi. You know like the GREEDY Tyrants they are. I'm sure if you were a phone manufacturer or carrier, you would be trying to make as much money as you could as well.

This is not necessarily true, just an assumption on your part. I didn't say it was gospel I said it shows that the update is ready according to HTC so I believe VZW's at fault here. Why do I believe VZW is the hold up because of the history of every update I have had to deal with every Android phone I've ever had. The Eris, the Incredible, the Bionic, & finally the Rezound. Every time there is a hold up it's due to VZW making sure that their apps and the new OS work properly with one another. So after HTC's done it's sent to VZW for their final test before it gets the go ahead.

Didn't say I had an ISSUE with them holding off on the update while it pushes it out to the Razr I was just agreeing as to probably why we are having to wait even longer. However if I remember correctly VZW & HTC were saying the Rezound was most likely to get the ICS update first. Now I know that's subject to change.

How do you know they do more testing than every other carrier? Do you work for Verizon? If you do then I know why my rant apparently annoyed you so much. BTW I love the HTC Rezound but I've had to replace it 5x in 6 months because of the Boot Loop issue. I paid $300 for the Rezound and I was fed up with it doing this. I literally had a replacement sent and the day I got the replacement it started doing it. So I asked VZW to please switch me to a different phone and they tried to get me to go to the LG Revolution which is a Single Core less expensive Device. After 300.00 and 5 replacements they wanted me to switch to a lesser phone or get another replacement Rezound. The last one the sent me before I figured out what was causing the problem had scratches all over the screen. Huge obvious scratches. How's that for customer service?

I get the latest devices from HTC every year because I like HTC phones, but they're always behind. I tried a Bionic that lasted all of a week. I guess maybe I should stop buying HTC phones then.

We were told by HTC & VZW and I was guaranteed by the VZW manager that the Rezound (before I decided to buy the phone) WOULD BE updated to ICS EARLY 2012 at the earliest Q1 and the very latest early Q2 2012. Here we are Q3 and no update. The only reason I went with the Rezound was because of this promise by HTC & VZW and the Beats Headphones, but like I told the VZW manager I would be more than happy to wait on the Nexus. Of course now I see all he cared about was getting a sale. Now don't get me wrong I love the Rezound it's an amazing device besides my unfortunate problems with the Boot Loop issue, but I found out finally what was causing that and since it's been a great phone. However I also want to be updated with the latest OS with the latest features and bug fixes and if I'm told that ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY it will be out EARLY 2012 I'm excited for the phone but then when it's not out like they promised then I feel like it was just a lie just to get people to upgrade to HTC's newest device to get people to upgrade so they could make sales. That makes me not want to trust HTC or VZW anymore. I know it's a rather large update, but that goes back to don't make promises if you can't deliver. Say things like we are shooting for early 2012 not. ICS will be out for the HTC Rezound Early 2012 Q2 at the latest.

But there isn't any proof it isn't other than I keep reading that the VZW gets it after HTC's done and then the test with their apps to see if there is going to cause any issues and if it does then it's sent back to HTC to iron out the kinks. I've read this on many Android Blogs. Even I think HTC put out a statement saying how the update process works if I'm not mistaken. It could of been another manufacturer, but I remember seeing how the process worked out and Bloatware sucks and it's put at the system level of the os or kernel of Android so you have to Root to remove it. Which is ridiculous.

You missed the point here I don't want to root my phone I don't want to void my warranty because I'm forced to have apps that I don't use on my device. I shouldn't have to root MY phone to remove apps that I don't use at all ever. No PC or Laptop does this. Yes they add the Bloatware on them but after I buy it I can remove it if I so choose. Verizon makes it seem like that even after you buy the device that they still own it. I mean if you add the ability to uninstall the Bloatware what or who is it going to hurt to give us this option? So if the update takes more time so VZW can have Bloatware at the system level then I'm really against the Bloatware. It would be a different story if I could uninstall it. Then no skin off of my teeth other than it taking longer to get the latest OS out to devices. I know this isn't fact but again I've seen it time and time again mention as one of the reasons it slows down the OS updates.

So you think that because of my rant along with other peoples rants are the reason they keep updates so secretive it's like trying to get security clearance at Area 51? No the lawsuits are from people who either are really going overboard or like the guy who Sued and won because the Judge agreed that he was in the right. I honestly believe that if HTC or VZW were having trouble with getting the update out and if they would've came out and said (this goes for all carriers and all updates) hey we are sorry we are having trouble getting these updates out these are the reasons and they listed the reasons why. People wouldn't be more understanding than being kept totally in the dark? I think people would say ok we understand now what the hold up is we're disappointed, but now we know why at least. Instead of what happened on HTC's support page the Update is ready only to be pulled shortly after and HTC nor VZW has said as to why so people are frustrated. HTC actually played stupid with me they said nothing was posted in the email they sent me.

This came from the Wall Street Journal and they tend to get it right when they make an announcement like this. And it said 5 Nexus devices did not mention carriers and regardless of whether whatever carrier they do release it for doesn't necessarily mean I'm staying with VZW anymore they're no longer trying to help the customers anymore. It's all about money and I understand this is a business but to garner repeat business you want to treat the customers well to keep them coming back and this past year with my experience with them has been far less than satisfactory. Lied to me to make a sale then after 5 replacement phones wants me to switch to a far inferior device after spent $300.00 on a phone and now taking away grandfathered in Unlimited data if you upgrade and also the additional $30.00 fee to add just to upgrade sums it up pretty well for me.

My next device will be a Nexus if it's not on VZW oh well it's been an ok run.
