Verizon playing games with their Maxx pricing.

Back in April, my primary line (Droid X) came due for an upgrade. I also have my final $50 NE2 discount. At that time, the Razr Maxx was priced at $299, meaning that I could get it for $249. Then, in May, I received an email that showed the Razr Maxx price was down to $199 (same as the normal Razr, which was also shown on the same email), and I could get either for $149 with my NE2 discount! Went online to verify that price, and yup, there it was: both the Razr & the Razr Maxx priced at $199, and my NE2 $50 still available. Cool! But I still wasn't ready to make the jump due to some other concerns. Then June comes along, and I receive an email notification that Verizon is offering a special "Dads & Grads" sale, $100 off ANY Motorola 4G LTE smartphone. I think, "Great! that will drop MY price for the Maxx down to $49! I guess now is the time!"

Surprise! They raised the price of the Maxx back to $299, effectively eliminating the $100 Dads & Grads discount for the Maxx. Nice sleight of hand there, Verizon!

Did you actually read my post, or is it just too complicated for you to follow? It shows a $199 now because of the Dads & Grads sale, that started on June 4 and will end after today. My point is that back in April, they had already lowered the price of the Maxx to $199, matching the price of the original Razr.

This is from a Verizon email to me on April 15, 20 days before the D&G discount:

Now here is the prices today, with the $100 D&G discount:

Do they match? No.

On June 4, when they announced the Dads & Grads special, they raised the Maxx back to $299 normal price in order to offer the $100 D&G discount. That is my point. In april, they had lowered the normal price of the Maxx. In June, they raised the price on the Maxx back up in order to offer the D&G discount.

Well 4X4 when i was over at one the Stores the Other Day the Tag Clearly said $199.99 Hell i don't any More the prices go up down like a Yo Yo any more. i Guess when i make my next Visit i will Know. I don't shop on line nor Order i want see it before i buy it.! that way No surprises..

I called them about the same exact thing... I told them that "Since the MAXX was listed at $199, then with the "Dads and Grads" promotion, it should be $99, correct?" She told me no, the reduced price went back to normal price of $299 the day BEFORE the "Dads and Grads" promo, thus reducing it down to $199... I told her that that was really underhanded, they had been advertising it at $199, and with the new promo, that it would be less, but they said "No".

No the Cost of the Maxx is or Was $299.99 -- $100.00 off instant rebate for the Dad's & Grads but after the Stores Closed the Promotion Drops an the Cost of a Maxx went back to it's Original Cost..b33

Today the phone is back to 299. Why not look at the Resound. They dropped the price of that to 79 with your ne2 it will be 29.

I was going to go with that Phone yesterday because i kind of like it. But that was Until the Rep. I know very Well Told me the Troubles that H.T.C is having with it.. Getting too Hot, Camera Going completely out of it only after a Few Days of Use. And the Screen on many of the Rezounds got Returned because they failed after a Few days Use. I told him were my Bread was Buttered since getting my First Maxx i had him get me another one..b33

I too bought the maxx and like it very much. Got it for 149 with ne2. I had it narrowed down between those two phones. Figured he wanted a deal and if he could get the phone for 29 that was a good price.

Cool i Got mine Brought it Home Watched the Golf Tourney that was out in San Fran. the some of the NBA then Later i done the Install of the Sim an then Added my Touches to it..But for 4 Hours i have been streaming WinAmp an Listening to 181.Fm the Awesome 80's an Not once has it Dropped or Skipped a Song since i Started..b33

Basically sounds like they was doing a promotional sale for the device and this wasn't forever so when the device went back to normal price they added the new promo for the Dads & Grads sale...

This isn't out of a normal for a company to place a product on sale to move units and then place price back to normal after the sale had completed, I really dont see anything shady about how the sale was introduced... This is where the word "SALE" comes in..
