So there are these apps that apparently I'm not allowed to remove...

I have absolutely no interest in football, do I really need the NFL app taking up space on my phone? Nor I don't care to subscribe to Netflix. Ok, I hid them. Now it wants me to update them! Is there any way to at least get rid of the install reminder for apps I don't want to update?

Those are just annoying. I'm more concerned about the Google maps app. Have you seen the permissions it has? They seem excessive to me. Am I being paranoid about it? I'm trying to be careful about what I install, yet I have an app I can't get rid of that seems to have the run of my phone. I know Android is from Google, but this does have me concerned.

When you say no to an update of these apps, you will not be bugged again until one of your other apps you have downloaded needs to be updated and they are always at the bottom of the update list.

These apps do not use any resources what so ever unless they are used. They are placed in a section of memory we do not have access to, so you are not losing any 'space'.

Hiding is best and soon you will forget about them

I totally agree, this is a phone that I PAID for, I pay the usage bill and yet they install apps I don't care to have and will not let me take them off to free up space.

Well, it is your phone, and you do have the right to delete those apps and make any changes you want to the software. Just remember, that by changing the software setup from factory defaults you will void your warranty.

Maybe if these apps werent there we could have access to this memory...ya think...I agree with the OP...it is a total joke how Verizon sells out to anyone with an app that is willing to give them a buck...do I really need three navigation apps loaded onto my phone?

Maps, Navigation, and VNaz are the only 3 I have ever seen on any Android device. 2 of which Belong to Google and are the same app really just the Navigation is actually a "shortcut".

I think this thread comes up every few weeks..

but it boils down to the apps don't do anything, they take up a small percentage of your phone and honestly its just something to work yourself up over.. go enjoy your phone for once

Remember that you didn't pay the full price for the phone--the full price is closer to $600-700, if you were to buy it unlocked and not with a plan. The bloatware provides some revenue to Verizon that then helps to drop the price to $200 or whatever.

Just don't update any of the bloatware apps, and you won't waste any more memory on them. Some of the updates that I'm being alerted to expand the apps by several MBs.

You can move the applications to the SD card and then hide them in the menu. It is not difficult to do.

You can not move the stock intalled apps to the sd card but you can hide the apps by creating a custom start menu list or installing a custom launcher like ADW or Launcher Pro.

Mainly because they make loads of profit from putting junk on your phone. Yes it may make plans cheaper...but more likely it just adds another percentage to some marketing VP's paycheck because of his contribution to the bottom line. I am going to give them a few more weeks and then start contacting the companies that make the apps and complain to them...the more we complain the more likely they will change. If the cost of change is less than the cost of staying the same change happens.
