I just need a phone and do not need the "smart" capabilities. Can I use the droid I have without paying for the internet and such?
Unfortunately, no. All the smartphones are automatically linked with a data plan. If you have an unlimited plan, and have had it before the cut off date, you're grandfathered in. If not, you must select one of the three or four data plans available. As far as the internet goes, you are not obliged to use it. Plus, it doesn't cost anything to have the apps on your phone.
