HTC Incredible

I'm planning on getting a new phone and giving my son my HTC Incredible. His current phone is not a smart phone and and is not working any longer. I would like to get rid of the data package on this phone before I give it to him. Is that an option for this phone or will it not work without the data package? I'll be past the 2 year mark in this phone on 3/15/12.

Verizon requires a data plan to have a smartphone activated on its network, so if you want to give your Incredible to your son, he will need to have the data plan.
