Anyone angry about the latest Android update for Razr Maxx? The did away the speed dial feature which is a total load of -----! Why would the make stupid changes like that?
Nope .. every change comes with its, well changes ... the update works well, although yes, a few things have changed or were eliminated. YMMV

Several things were removed; here's the changelog if you haven't seen it:
Release Notes - DROID RAZR/ MAXX - Software Upgrade - 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean)
An alternative to the speed dial feature is to use Direct Dial widgets.
Others have noted a decent replacement APP : Direct Dial, but put them all in one folder to not clutter your screen. 2 taps and call is made. Same number of taps as Speed Dial was.Seems to Work great. Good luck.
I'm All right with it just a few ticklers one is i have at times seen my screen want to do like a fade to when changing to something else i'm assuming that is part of the Project butter). there are a few things i wished it had like the Circle Rings i'm Ok with the Rest..
Thankie Tiki bbb333 it's Cooooooooooooold out side
Another option is to use the Favorite Contacts widget; also takes just two taps to make a call.
Yup i like that Option... tiki you have a Maxx or something ya holding out on me knowing all this stuff just some early morning joking with ya.. i got do something my feet are about to freeze time to raid the Fridge and warm up some of my pizza Rollers.. Yum!
Yep, I prefer the Favorite Contacts widget. Stay warm!

There's always this alternative, although I think you called it "cheesey" in another post.
Rings Digital Weather Clock - Android Apps on Google Play.
Yea, I just tried that DIRECT DIAL widget ... don't like it - there's no way to preset FAVS in the widget ... it just grabs you're recently use (most used?) numbers from RECENT ... I'll take a look at the other one (FAV CONTACTS).
I'm not sure what you mean about not being able to preset contacts in the widget? Maybe you've confused Favorites in the People app with the Favorite Contacts widget?
You can choose whichever contact you want to put in a Direct Dial widget, and you can do the same thing with the Favorite Contacts widget. The main difference is that the Direct Dial widget is just for one contact; you can load up to 24 contacts in the Favorite Contacts widget (at least it's 24 on ICS; may be different on JB), but only the first four will show up on your home screen (lightly tap it and slide up to open it for the rest of the contacts).
Hey Cody i was thinking there was a Way to Get the Real Circle Widget that Came off the M model Razr But i can't Remember if Wildman said it would be safe to use it's been while since it was released and me and didn't discuss much on it but if i remember you had to get two separate part to make it Work..
I'll really hating it now. I can't get any of my e-mail accounts.
Here's my issues, and can't seem to find answers in their new "Settings" folder
My phone now goes DIRECTLY to voice mail - I can not tell when I am getting a call.
It WILL NOT allow me to turn off the "vibrate" function when I use the keypad.
It WILL NOT allow me to use ONLY "vibrate" for ALL my notifications, including my phone. I want ONLY vibrate, for EVERYTHING. I cannot find a way to do it.

A system cache clear might help. You may have to delete the e-mail accounts and re-establish them (but you'd lose any e-mails on your phone).
I'm not sure why people aren't understanding the obvious when it comes to speed dial function. Favorites and direct dial functions are a ridiculous replacement to the speed dial from the keypad! when you are making calls, which I do while on the road for work constantly, you are already in the dial pad automatically while engaging in calls. By having speed dials available in this screen, you eliminate the need to scroll to another screen or leave the phone functions entirely to use a function like direct dial. On top of that, screen space is a premium when it comes to utilizing the phone to the fullest, so what Einstein thought it would be a great idea to eliminate efficiency of the dial pad speed dials and crucial screen space for the direct dial widget buttons?! Has common sense or user feedback in development been eliminated all together?
I liked my phone alot till now, but if no update re-adds the speed dial function in the very near future, then Motorola/Android is truly clueless...
thank you for response. I've tried all that before hand. nothing worked. The trouble I'll having is I can't find where to cut on the syn for the accounts. It says syn is off. When I click the tab to turn it on it syn for that one second and says its off again. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Did you go to My Accounts > Advanced Setup and turn on sync where appropriate?
After updating I went to set up my speed dial and I thought I was just not remembering how to do it. "Surely", I thought, "they wouldn't pull a feature as basic as that!" But apparently the app was, indeed, designed by people who don't use a phone! I'm absolutely shocked.
It looks like they messed up the phone number recognition too. I used to be able to join a con call by entering 800-555-1212x0123456789, but it doesn't pick up the conf. # anymore. More idiocy. This upgrade has been a serious downgrade, phone-wise. Verizon should be ashamed.
