Droid screen went blank and its not working

Hello, my nephews Droid screen went blank and it is not working. I changed the battery. Took it out, Held down buttons and nothing. Now we have noooooooo idea what to do. He didn't drop it or put it in water. Please help. It's like the black screen of death. :smileysad:
