No Droid X Internet Access in large city where many friend's phones work

I travel for work to Wausau WI and Marshfield WI.   Both are decent sized towns where I should get a good signal.  When traveling with others who also have Verizon their GPS, internet and email always work in these areas.  I've never had a problem anywhere else in the US with my phone.    For some reason I get no internet in these areas.  Anything I can do?

When was the last time you updated your PRL list. Dial *228, option 2.

Are you on a Verizon plan or an Alltel plan? It can make a difference.

Also there is an area of WI where the former Alltel towers were returned to the owners and began Element Mobile. I don't recall myself where this area was, but it might affect your data connection.
