USB cord for charging/data transfer.

Why did Motorola package such a short USB cord for the charger/data transfer ? As it is, I ended up having to lay my Android on the floor because the cord length is too short to reach the desktop. Is it possible to purchase longer one? Also, I'd like to be able to use solar power to charge the battery during extensive periods of off power grid time..Any ideas?

Yes you can buy more and longer cables for your phone. I have a moto droid and I bought the following cables here. They are $1.40 for a six foot cable. You can't touch that price at any local store.

Plug the charger into an electrical extension cord. The in car cigarette lighter cord is too short also.

I ordered the solar power battery charger from fommy.com. I works with the Moto Droid's USB cable. It is very nice and has saved me several times from running out of battery charge.

Agreed. This is super annoying. I have an outlet behind the headboard of my queen-sized bed, and the cable barely reaches the nightstand.

I know it's an easy fix to buy the extension cords, but WHY would anyone make the charger that short? Just strange.
