Droid Update - only 4g now?

Since the update, I have not been able to switch to 3g. The 4g in this area is inconsistent so I am constantly loosing the signal. 4g sucks the life out of the battery. Settings menu doesn't let me switch to 3g only like I used to. What happened? Is there another trick to getting to 3g only?

There's an app in the Google Play store that gives you the option of 3G-only (and lots of other weird options): LTE OnOff. It works fine on the Bionic even though its full name has "HTC Thunderbolt".

Excellant app. It is the only one of these that I have found to work on the Bionic after ICS.

Thank-you. It really helped getting the directions on how to use that app. Very confusing for the novice.
