This problem has been happening since I purchased the phone. After setup I discovered the problem. I went back to the Verizon store and explained the problem. The answer I got was ‘change to GMail.
What problem?
Sorry, I thought the above problem would follow the previous test. OK, here goes.
I'm having problem getting my Hotmail E-mail on my Droid Razr Maxx. I only get my e-mails once or twise, at best, a day. The phone doesn't replensh the e-mail like other phones I've had. Someone suggeswted cleaning the cash out, but I advised this has been happening since I purchased the phone. I even went back to the store and got little or no information from them. I'm here looking for help.
Have you already checked the sync settings of the account to verify it isn't set to Manual or to check once every 12 hours or something like that?
I'm not sure I know where to go. I think I might have found the area and shut off ALL the sync's I could find.
I'm having a similar issue. When I got the phone it sync'd all the time, but I must have changed something and now I have to manually sync. Occasionally when I sync, it creates multiple copies of the emails in my inbox.
The only things I have changed are on the battery management and data used notices, I also changed to use wi-fi when available. I've tried to go back and remove the settings, but that's not working to correct the sync issue either.
Thanks for your reply. I think this is a Verizon problem, but no one has an answer.
I have found that GMail doesn't like to push sync when using WiFi without a data connection, which I have a Smart Action to automatically run when I'm at work. As soon as I leave work, everything starts to sync again.
My problem isn't with GMail. It's with Hotmail. I get mail with no problem on my Kindle but not me Droid Razr Maxx.
Hi! I used to use the default email on my RAZR MAXX for hotmail, but since the upgrade to ICS (4.0.4) for some reason it will only update automatically when I am on Wi-Fi, not the network connection. And no, I don't have anything set up in Smart Actions either. I know back on Gingerbread, I had the option of setting it to only update on Wi-Fi, but ICS only has the option of turning sync on or off for the account, no Wi-Fi settings, and it is automatically set for push, so no frequency settings available either. So, my fix was to use another email app (I'm using K-9 Mail, but others may work too) which will still update on the network. Hope this helps!
In the settings there is a setting for sync over Wi-Fi only. This is even
for push email.
That is true for some email accounts, but not for hotmail. It automatically sets it up for push, greys out the option to change it, and there is no option for Wi-Fi.
Well, I stand partially corrected. What I said is true if you use the built in automatic setup for Hotmail. If you choose "Other" in the add account menu then proceed to enter your hotmail address and password, (and you can still touch next and have it set up server settings) it gives you the options to use push, or check at given fetch intervals, and has the check box available if you want it to only sync on wi-fi. BTW, dkingsr27, if you have all syncs shut off, you won't ever get any emails unless you do a manual sync.

How odd; on the Bionic you can set Hotmail up for manual fetch rather than push and to download only on wifi.
