Lost phone numbers after operating system update

After the operating system update, I discovered that some of my phone numbers were gone.  Anyone know whether I can resurrect them or not?  I have checked the Backup Assistant and Google Contacts, and all of those numbers are on my phone.  Is there anywhere else I should check for lost numbers?

I know contacts are very important to me and don't want you to experience the loss of anyone's number you may need. I want to find out if you noticed where the contacts were stored when you initially added them to the device. Was it Backup Assistant or Google? The phone prompts for an option to be selected when adding a new contact. If you recall the option selected I encourage you to go back into the contact list for this source and view Trash. It may be that the contacts were moved to this folder and just need to be routed back to the main contacts to sync to the device. Please keep us posted to the experience.
