problem syncing contacts with Gmail

I'm having a problem syncing contacts from my new RAZR MAXX HD to my Gmail account. Syncing calendar entries and syncing newly created contacts works fine. However, the original contacts (loaded by Verizon through backup assistant when I bought the phone) do not show up in my GMAIL account no matter what I try to do. Any suggestions? Thanks

I hope you're enjoying your Razr Maxx HD @whoanellie! Only Google contacts will show in your Gmail account. Since the contacts that are brought over from Backup Assistant are actually imported as Phone contacts, they won't show in Gmail. But I have good news! You can export those contacts to your SD card and then import them back to your Google account on the phone. http://bit.ly/VNMYBE Within minutes, they'll sync to your Gmail account.
