Assistance following Android Update 4.1.2

Since receiving update, cannot turn off clicking & vibration when using keyboard. Seems settings under sound have no effect. How can this be remedied?

Also have installed NBC news app, that previously had been set to not receive notifications (sound/vibration) as are pushed 24/7, that now cannot turn off. Please advise.

I have the possible solution for the keyboard problem.

From the Settings menu

Select Language and input

Touch the little gear at the end of Samsung keyboard

Touch Advanced

Uncheck the last two settings

I am not sure about the NBC news app, sorry.

Did the trick. Mega thanks. I talked to someone from VZW tech support this AM who was completely clueless. Suggested a hard reset. Not. You're not just a stargazer, but a star! :-)

I am glad that my suggestion worked. I am also glad that you did not do the hard reset. I think that you would have been shocked to find out that the hard reset probably would have left those settings turned on (checked) since I think that is the default settings.

No way would I have done a hard reset. Did it once, a few phones ago on a Treo. Only do as a last resort. Any tech who recommends a hard reset w/o doing the least bit of research into the problem is either not knowledgeable or lazy. Once the tech advised of the option to do a reset, I knew talking with her was waste of time. As someone else stated earlier, VZW tech support has gone way down hill. First level techs are pretty much useless, sorry to say.

Hello lml2000. I'm glad to see that stargazer72460 provided you with the information that was needed to stop the keyboard clicking and vibration. Thanks stargazer72460. I can help you take care of the alerts you want to stop. Open your NBC News app and in the upper right hand corner of the homepage you will see a picture of three gears(Settings). Select settings and locate Enable push notifications. Make sure it's unchecked if you want the alerts to stop. Or you can scroll down a little further and keep the alerts on and setup quiet times when alerts are not pushed.
