Verizon Store Refuses to sell me Droid X with one year contract

HI all,

So I went to my local verizon wireless store this morning to get the long awaited Droid X. After waiting inline for about an hour it was finally my turn. :manvery-happy:

However, my dream was not to be realized. The Verizon Sales Person told me that they could not sell me the Droid X with a 1 year contract. :mansad: My choices A. 2 yr contract or B. Purchased the phone full retail. :manmad:

She explained that since I was doing an early upgrade (I am eligible for new every two early next month), I didnt have the option for a 1 yr contract. My contract end date is this December.

I have been suffering with the Blackberry Storm (original) for the past year and a half. Its gotten so bad that I am performing Battery Pulls at least twice a day. Some days as many as 4. :manmad:

I was looking forward to getting the Droid X and finally having a phone that worked.

All I can say now, is that when my contract expires in December I will reconsider if I will remain a Verizon Customer. :manmad:

Anyone else have an issue like this?

Had a similar event but not with contract problem. I havent had a well functioning phone for about a year and a half. But i have went from the Samsung Glyde which alot of people know crapped out because it was samsung first touch phone..., then i had to downgrade back to my old LG Chocolate, and then to my moms old Samsung Alias, all which have either a button problem or just acts funny. Went to go get the Droid x but no, fate didnt want me to have a good phone after a year and a half of suffering...

Good to hear I'm not the only one to insist and pay more for a one year only contract. I can't tell you how many folks I run into nursing a crippled up piece-o-crap phone through the remaining months and months and months of their contract.

yeah, it was stated on the promotional upgrade flyer that it required a 2 yr extension if you were using the early upgrade.

just so i understand correctly.....you have the option of getting an EARLY UPGRADE by signing a 2 year contract? i guess i am missing the real problem here. sounds like they are offering you the phone for the upgrade price, BEFORE you were supposed to be eligible? they eat $400 each on these newer phones when they give them to you for $200. the way they make it up is over 2 years on your calling plan. they can give you a $300 for $99.99 every year because they are losing a LOT less on those phones.....or a $100 for free, etc. but on phones that retail for $500++...they take the big loss in exchange for the 2 years calling plan revenue. AT&T is dong the exact same thing with the ip4.
