my droid x keeps shuting off

my droid x charges and says 100% but after a few hours it shut off on its own and I plug it in and it charges but dies fast. What's wrong with it? I have the original battery in it that came with it, could battery be bad? Its 2 yrs. old

can someone please help me out?

On Amazon, a replacement OEM battery is like $7 with free shipping. I'd definitely replace the battery, but only with an OEM from a reliable point of sale.
