My Samsung Brightside wont turn on

Earlier today, i was using my samsung brightside to text, and i noticed that the power/end button would only work if the screen was slid out. And then the back button started to not work as well. And now, about 10 minutes ago, when i unplugged my phone from the charger and opened it up, all there was was a white screen. I continue to try and turn it on using the power/end button, but it seems to not be working at all. Please help.

Plug your phone into the charger and let it sit for a couple minutes. While the charger is plugged in, take out the battery but leave the charger in. Let it sit like that for a couple minutes....you may also get an icon on the screen that basically tells you there is no battery. After a couple minutes put the battery back and try to power back up...see if that helps. This worked on one of my phones awhile ago. So hopefully this may help....if not it may be a software issue.

How bizarre. Even with that said, no worries at all because we can fix just about anything around here. So, let's jump right in and get this resolved. As described by one of our fellow posters here, a battery pull will in fact be the most positively impacting way to get your phone back on track. Before plugging into a charger, go ahead and pull the battery. If the phone begins acting up again, please do try charging the phone and pulling the battery (please leave out for 60 seconds or so). Please keep us updated to with how this works in case we need to get you some more advanced troubleshooting.

I'm having the same problem. The Power button was acting up. Phone is now shut off and apparently cannot be powered back up. I tried the battery-pull... without the charger AND while plugged into the charger as described. nothing seems to work. I am prepared to replace the phone that is less than 2 years old but I want to start it up to retrieve the contact and photo data from the phone.

I can only imagine how frustrating this must be for you! Having a working phone is a must! I use my phone all the time and I would be just as upset as you if this were happening to me. But don't worry because I'm sure we can get this resolved.

I appreciate you taking the initial trouble shooting steps! Usually pulling the battery for a few minutes will help when the phone doesn't power on.

Are you still unable to power your phone on since you posted this message? If so, please follow me and send me a private message with your name, mobile number and a contact number where you can be reached so I can access your account and further assist.

I understand you want to back up your contacts and photos so you can transfer them to the replacement phone. If you have Backup Assistant http://vz.to/MfvUz2 already installed it will automatically back up your contacts. In regards to the photos, do you know if you had them backed up on your SD card?

If you did not have Backup Assistant set up on the phone and you are unable to power on the phone you may need to take the phone and the replacement phone into a VZW store to see if the contacts can be transferred for you.

My daughter is having the same issue with her phone as the original post on this discussion, my wife and I who have the Brightside also are both having different issues as well. My phone does not receive picture messages and hers sometimes receives calls but mostly they just go straight to voicemail without even ringing. My daughter's phone turned off this morning and will not turn back on even with the battery-pull method. When we took it to the store they said the warranty had already expired and we would need to buy a new phone.

We would have extended the warranty if we suspected that one of us would mistreat our phones, what we didn't realize was that these phones are faulty!! This thread and many other complaints (https://community.verizonwireless.com/thread/773147) make it obvious that these phones have been defective for awhile, and yet verizon continues to sell them! Very disappointed with Verizon, we've been loyal customers and did not expect this.

I'm having the same problem as the member posted above -my power button will no longer work and now I can't turn my phone back on.

I tried the suggestion you mentioned: pulling the battery for 60 seconds and then reinserting and holding the power button for 30 secs but it still won't turn on. I also tried restarting while on the charger. Nothing's working...

I hope you'll be able to reach out to me or have someone else contact me as this is extremely disappointing. I'd like a VZW customer rep to help me resolve this issue, without me being forced to spend my way out of a crappy phone that I was sold..

Yesterday my power button stopped working as well. Tonight I was sending a text and my screen went crazy then completely white. I took the battery out to restart it forgetting that it did not work! Now, I have no phone either. I have had it well over the one year warranty but less than the two years to upgrade. It is very disappointing to see all of these posts with the same issue. I would love to call you Verizon but seeings how my phone won't even turn on, well that makes it rather difficult. It sucks that we have to enter into two year contracts to get a "reduced" price for a phone that is never going to last the two years needed. It is a shame that these are not being dealt with. This many people should not be having the same issues and I do agree that we should not be forced to spend our way out of a crappy phone. We should also not be forced into buying unnecessary insurance for crappy phones when they break through no fault of our own! My daughter had to switch back to a chocolate touch phone because her Brightside messed up several months ago. What should have been an upgrade, as you call it, for both of us has been anything but that. And by the way, no there is no water or physical damage to my phone.

This happened to me today. I find it strange it's one week from when the previous post had their issue. I phoned Verizon to say I wanted software upgraded and was only told my device had the newest software. Where's the glitch then. This phone was not damaged, but now I can't even turn it on!!!! Never had a problem until the day I end up with two family members in the same household in the hospital. Super fun trying to keep everyone abreast of their health situations without a phone...Thanks Verizon NOT Thank GOD for Facebook and other WORKING devices!

Now I am trying to switch my Samsung Brightside to my nieces old Samsung bright side and it says this device is no longer compatible with my plan...What the hell? Makes no sense this is the same phone I have now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah the exact same thing happened to my Brightside two days ago. I tried the same fixes above. When I plug in the charger it shows that it's attempting to charge but it won't turn on or "boot up"

Thank God I still have the internet and I was talked out of getting rid of my land line...what a hunk of junk. Going to Best Buy tomorrow.

I am having the same issue with my daughters phone. Won't power on. Tried the battery thing a few times. So seems strange that all these people are having the exact same issue all at the same time.

Is there anything that Verizon can do to help with this issue?

My daughters Samsung Brightside is having the exact same problem. I have spent the last hour trying to fix this, and have tried all of the suggestions posted here and elsewhere. Has anyone had any good results?

Fabords- I am sorry to hear that your daughters phone is having the same issues. Does the phone have any kind of physical or liquid damage to it? If the phone is less than a year old or if you have the Total Equipment Protection on the phone it could be replaced under the warranty. I would love to look deeper into this for you. I guess, I'm gonna jump on this band wagon too. My Brightside will not power up due to the power button not working. I don't care about moving on, but I want the contact info, so it needs to turn on just for a sec.

Maybe it is getting time for an upgrade is what I am thinking. It is time to get a little better phone now. That is why they start failing. I know when lights and things quit working it is time for me to upgrade. If for some reason it is not time to upgrade then it will be time to buy some cheap one off ebay to get by with till time for your upgrade. That is what I do and works good most of the time.

I understand needing to access your contact information, Relic13. Has the phone's battery been fully drained? Have you attempted to let it charge and initiate a power up? In addition, do you have backup assistant? You would be able to access contacts from online if so.

• Go to www.verizonwireless.com.

• On the upper right-hand corner of the page select Sign In/Register.

• On the upper left-hand side of the page, you will be prompted to sign into your MyVerizon account. If you have not already created a User ID, you can do so by clicking on the Register link located directly below the Password field.

Note: You must sign in using your own mobile number, or a user ID associated with that number.

• Once you have logged in, scroll down until you see a table headed “More Actions” with different links available.

• Look for the subcategory Device.

• Under Device, find and click the link Manage My Contacts.
