Lapdock and webtop app!!!

Hello forum, I have a question about the Lapdock accesories for the Motorola Droid devices for verizon wireless, if the lapdock still available to buy it at verizon stores? or online? and if the webtop app is going to be on upcoming devices??? for example the new Razr Maxx HD and Razr HD are going both support the webtop app???

You can still find lapdocks at some Verizon stores and various on-line places, but they are being phased out since the Razr M, HD, and Maxx HD won't support webtop, i.e.,

I snapped up one of the 'bargain basement priced' lapdocks at my local Verizon store several months ago ... sweet!

Also went shopping at Sam's today. (not sure if all Sam's have them, but my local one has a Motorola universal power pack bundle ... car charger/USB cable that can charge two devices at once, wall charger/USB cable, and emergency power pack for just under $50 + tax ... the power pack alone is usually $40 on Verizon's web site)

I have a Lapdock 100 I bought just a few days before the ICS update. I like it but it's not as useful as I thought it would be. It is a must have for the gadget junkie though. Almost like having a tablet pc - ALMOST. I have a logitech M305 (non-unifying) mouse plugged up to it and I personally find it easier to use than the touchpad.

You can get pretty much the same experience with HD docking station and a good sized monitor or TV that has an HDMI connection. The larger screen might even appeal to you more. The thing to keep in mind - it (your Razr) is a phone first and a computer third. Get a BT keyboard (a logitech unified mouse and keyboard might work but I have never tried them)

The one thing that can get in the way (at least on the 100) is that the cable connection arrangement to the phone doesn't let you dock the phone in the little runner slot. So you end up with a dangling dongle.

Ohh and one last thing. Once charged up, the station will power and charge your phone while docked.

You can live without a lapdock, but they can be useful to have ... as long as you get it on sale.

Dangling Dongle indeed. Sad. So sad. Not even a decent requiem or eulogy for these LapDock things now that they have been declared officially DEAD by none other than Mororola hisself.

Wildman thanks for including that Link I was kind of wandering if in some ways this was Going to Happen when the one Manager i know that has a Razr said that she Didn't upgrade her one Razr to I.C.S. because the phone wasn't Properly working as it did with Gingerbread. She has two Razr's and she could see the difference in the Two. Maybe I.C.S. is what helped kill it off.

I have a 4 month old Motorola Lapdock 500 I was using with my Droid4. With Gingerbread I loved it. With ICS, the Webtop 3.0 changes and different features are not to my liking.

So the Motorola Lapdock is for sale in the box, slightly used, $250 firm. Bought from Verizon just 4 months ago, looks like new.

Good Christmas present!

I don't know if you'll get any bites on here as this is not a Selling site) But you might try Ebay or Something like that to Yield better Results or try Locally in the Paper Maybe.. Good Luck! b33 :smileyhappy:

I was not expecting to sell my Lapdock 500 here, just venting on the total lack of support both Motorola and Verizon give for their customers.

The Droid4 was released in February 2012 through Verizon, Webtop features in Gingergread were highly advertised.

Now with ICS, Webtop features are dramatically reduced by removal of the dot station features - without any notice of the removal of features that wold affect Webtop users.

motorola 2nd level support says I can not roll my Droid4 back, and will not indicate if JB will be released for it anytime soon.

Now with JellyBean (Android 4.1) Webtop support is gone leaving purchasers of Lapdock stations with useless hardware.

Now Google Now supposedly will advance some of this, IF your phone can be upgraded to JB - Android 4.1 at all!

Oddly enough, after my complaint to Motorola Level 2 support, I can now get a free Razr

I'm a little confused by the Statement ? S.T. but this ain't the First time on here this has happen with other post in the Past!

So what is for sale or is nothing for Sale! ) And ever since Motorola released Ice Cream the soft wear and the Dock has not been to Compatible at all that is why Verizon Dropped them like a Hot Potato i even know a Verizon Manager that told me she would Not update her phone because of it. But she dropped the phone cracked the Glass and she is afraid the phone will Quite Working.. I don't if she done anything with it or Not but she told me a phone with I.C.S. just does not do well at all with the Dock..

I still have Gingerbread on my One Razr Maxx i'm going to keep it as Long as i Can.. If somebody would make me a Offer for it i Might sell it but not going give it Away! The Lowest i would take for it would be 4 Big Bills..

I have the droid bionic with jellybean and the bionic lapdock, I work for the railroad and am often out along the tracks where a laptop is nice but with no wireless the lapdock sure is a blessing as my eyes get sore from looking at the phone screen. After the jellybean update and with adobe dropping flash support out of the cell phone software, I did lose some functionality, it is still an very handy device for social networking web surfing and netflix amazon shopping surfing etc. etc. etc. I hope sometime they do pick up this idea again as I am getting older and the larger screen is a good deal. I will not give this combination up until they have a much better solution.

Yep, even though support for webtop is gone, I was glad to see that functionality was retained when upgrading my Bionic to JB. I also enjoy the option of connecting my Bionic to the lapdock when wi-fi isn't available and I need to be on-line for a while ... like now. :smileyhappy:
