Does anybody know when and how an update from ICS to Jelly Bean is going to be available?
It will be available Over The Air (OTA), but when hasn't been announced yet.
Just got Jelly Bean on Droid Razr Maxx - Merry Christmas to us all!!!
I'm assuming you have a Droid Razr Maxx HD? That update has been out for a bit. The JB update date for the Razr, Bionic, and Razr Maxx still hasn't been announced; rumor is 1st quarter 2013.
I just finished my update, Razr Maxx. 4.1.2 Merry Christmas!
Not the HD just the old fashioned Droid Razr Maxx.
Sorry, mine isn't the HD either.
I'm downloading Jelly Bean on my Razr Maxx at this very moment!!! Merry Christmas!
I have the Razr Maxx, not the HD, and it's downloading right now
Just got my OTA update: 98.78.8.cn.US Version
aka 4.1.2
Jelly Bean
An early Christmas present...
I have the Razr Maxx I have not gotten the update as of yet Atlanta Ga is my location. My mother has the Razr and she had an update but it stopped stop loading and never finished so she does not know what update it was. Her location is SC, Ive restarted my phone and she also did the same and her update has not came back yet
Crumbs! Got an OTA Update message and clicked "Download" and it failed! Now my phone says no update necessary. :-( I see that it is a known problem. Anyone know if/when they will re-push the update?
I had the same issue, >Comment deleted< Would it cause the update to fail?

It started downloading and then just stopped. It said that it failed and I turned my phone of and then back on. It said no update needed. Since it's not announced on Verizon's or Motorola's sites, I'd be willing to bet that someone screwed up and released it too early. But it was caught, so the update was shut down. Hopefully this will happen again soon.
My husbands updated, mine wont. :smileysad:
Same here. Woke up my phone to the failed update message, and now it says no update needed.
called motorola it seems they pulled it since someone released it early, and it could be released next month through june
They are trying to update over air right now. My update failed :smileysad: No new update Is available as of right now on my Razor Maxx. Still have the old software
Same thing happened to me :smileysad:
So weird, after reading everyone else saying they had the update notification just to have the update fail I wasn't expecting to even get the notification! But of course it failed :-(
Really? I get a message to update.....when I try....It Fails....Verizon has no info....Motorola states only a select few received the update and they will re-initiate the process between Jan-June. What gives? This company has failed with the update of this product since day 1 of the update to ICS. Silence may be golden for some. But not when you knowingly send out a update that they knew was buggy. Money has been spent by customers for a faulty operating system. I understand troubleshooting for accuracy....but this is on the verge of being ridiculous. We will not be reimbursed or credited for all these months of waiting to receive what we pay for every month. I have truly been patient. Heck.....we all have....but enough is enough......Motorola....honor your contract and come through
I got this update this morning(around 11am PST)and installed since it was asking me to do it. It was a CHRISTMAS EVE NIGHTMARE!!!!!! :smileysad: Everything looked fine but my phone was in "safe mode" for a while so I had to reboot my phone to exit from the safe mode a couple of times. It also disabled the language and input function so the google Korean IME doesn't work anymore. (This means that I can't reply Christmas greetings / seasons greetings back to my Korean friends in Korean anymore. sigh...) I did system restore to set my phone back to factory settings but no luck. If it was not "planned" or "official" Jelly Bean update, verizon wireless should be responsible for this accident and release a fix patch as soon as possible.
>Link Deleted< has the file on their site, I have used this site since the razr came out over a year ago. You can download the file and put it on your sd card. No root necessary and you can update the phone with some jelly beans.
its working download the file that was uploaded from the first few sucessfull attempts befor they pulled it. i dowloaded it and it is working great.
>Link deleted< to download zip file. i downloaded and updated. it works i tested it
Got the update Christmas eve and ever since am unable to connect to my home WiFi...Shows signal at EXCELLENT until it attempts to connect when the signal drops to POOR and never connects...so now I'm without my WiFi connect.....My first actual update with the Motorola and no way to fix it so far....Yep Merry Christmas....
At this point I would have to say definitely NO, nobody knows when the Razr Maxx will be updated to 4.1. The bigger question would be does anyone care, but us saps that upgraded to this device in the first place. It really seems to come down to the sad state of the Android OS in general, which has spread it's name so thinly over so many manufacturers, devices and carriers, Google has lost control, and I do not believe this runaway train known as Android can be reigned in and put under control. Their is no rhyme or reason to the devices they support and in what time frame, They are even to the point they are releasing devices with promised updates on the come. My frustrations stem from the fact that my first Android experience was with the LG Ally, two months after I recieved the phone flash updated to 11 and I was stuck with a phone I could not view video on for the remainder of my contract. so with much anticipation I upgraded to the Razr Maxx which was so highly touted by Verizon. From February to June, for 4 months this time I had flash, but alas along comes the ICS update and flash is no longer supported under Google. Not only that but severe connectivity issues. So in their infinite wisdom, instead of giving us a patch Motorola releases an app { Restore Connectivity Settings} which basically reboots the phone every time it switches between 3g, 4g, or WiFi. So we are left to wait for our savior in the form of Jelly Bean, but are shoved behind the HD versions of the same brand. Then lo and behold we are told the update is rolling out, only to have the rug pulled out from under us once again, with absolutely no explanations or apologies. It really strikes me as funny that the moderator of this forum, run by Verizon will take the time to edit posts they deem inappropriate, but will not offer up any answers to their customers concerns, or they do not know themselves. and that is even more disturbing. Just saying, all I want is a phone that is functional, I am not asking to be updated forever, but come on guys just give me something that is relevant for the length of my contract, or at this point even half of it. Just venting, thank you for your time.
Christmas came early for me and I was able to include the new Motorola Launcher with the JB update, all smiles.
My wife's phone tried the update and it apparently failed. Now a lot of her stuff is missing and some things got erased and she can't get them back. Apparently the update was pulled. After a couple of hours on the phones with Verizon and now Motorola, she's PISSED.
Hope she gets everything worked out.
goku i got the jb update but my screen stayed the same. i see i need motorola launcher where do i get this?
I have the update does anyone no how to get or find the launcher for it?
message me
No I do not. I waiting to hear back from the person that does though.
Hey aracicot how do u direct message gokui dont no how and need the ml as well
To Direct Message someone, you each need to be following each other, i.e., hover over the person's screen name in a post and you'll get a pop-up box; click on the Follow link in the bottom left-hand corner. They then get a follow request that they must approve. They in turn have to send you a follow request that you have to approve. Once you both are then following each other, you can DM each other
How did you get the Motorola Launcher update available as well ? I got the JB update on my OG RAZR MAXX, but it doesn't have the Circles and Quick Settings Launcher like the newer RAZR M.
Hey guys, found this! Hopefully none of you have thrown your Maxx's out yet from software frustration! Hahaha...http://www.gottabemobile.com/2013/02/22/droid-razr-razr-maxx-jelly-bean-updates/
I was joking. Haha. You've gotta admit though, there are people out there that are like that. But yeah i agree that this phone is awesome! I've always had trouble with motorola (Android versions) in the past where they'd always crash and are always so buggy and glitchy. But i told myself I'd give Android/motorola one more chance before i had gotten this phone, and this phone has totally surpassed all of my prior negativities with those systems! But to clarify on the "frustration" comment that i had said...when the Christmas JB leak got out, i was one of the few that had actually fully downloaded it and installed it before they were able to take it back off the air. Being that the bugs weren't totally tweaked on it yet, the frustrations that I've been having are that my Backup Assistant (Plus) Contacts wont sync, all of my pics, videos, and music had duplicated themselves, it got rid of the awesome Wifi print feature that ICS had, i can no longer hold the search button down (bottom right) and send out texts that way (or do anything else with that button except to do internet searches through Google or Google plus). I will say though that the voice recognition with the update is eons better than the ICS one! You no longer have to talk like a robot to get it to type right. Haha. But in regards to the duplicating media issue, when i saw that my pics were duplicated, i deleted the one set of them (because why would i need doubles on one phone), and it ended up erasing that and the duplicates! So more than half of my pics are gone! After doing a lot of research to find out what the issue was, i had saw somewhere that it seems as though the "media scanning" software was compromised (if my terms are correct). The fix was this, go to Settings>Apps>ALL>Media Storage>Clear Data. This WILL NOT erase your media. youll see that things are missing (such as pics, videos, assigned ringtones). But dont worry, just turn your phone off and turn it back on again. It will repopulate itself and it'll be good as new! You'll just have to reassign your ringtones to almost everything in your phone that you already had previously set up. So yeah, that was my frustration and im just trying to wait patiently for this JB patch to come out!
The soak test has finished on 3/11/13, release will be coming along shortly.
System Version: 98.72.16.XT912.Verizon.ed.US
Android Version 4.1.2

How do you set music as a ringtones post Jellybean?

If the music isn't already in the "ringtones" folder, I would move or copy the ringtone files there. Then the phone would recognize the files as a ringtone and include it in the selection list.
