Why won't this work? Why does the mobile network need to be on?
It is the way the MMS works on the Verizon Wireless network.
Its so they can make more money off data hoping you go over your limit.
Sending MMS messages on AT&T and Sprint work the same way as Verizon Wireless. T-Mobile is likely similar as well.
According to Verizion customer support sending a MMS File does not use any data, the msg is only charged against your texting account. However to send a MMS file there has to be an open data connection.
