Okay - I just moved to Colombia, and after doing all the proper steps with Verizon to ensure my phone could be used internationally, they assured me it was global ready! I am now in Colombia, and have bought a local SIM card (which is a VERY common practice in order for you to pay a more reasonable local rate for voice and data). I have installed my SIM card, but my data doesn't work - lo and behold, after an online search I discover that this is in fact a problem with the Samsung Galaxy S3. HOW COULD IT BE THAT I HAVE PURCHASED A GLOBAL PHONE BUT CANNOT GET DATA TO WORK WITH AN INTERNATIONAL SIM CARD?!?!
Can someone please help me understand whether this is still an issue, and if so whether there is a solution or workaround? I am absolutely handicapped in this country without data service. If Verizon has in fact sold me a global phone that is not global, I am going to escalate this.
