HTC ONE?

What is up with the HTC One? Why is Verizon putting up new phones, but holding back the BEST CURRENTLY AVAILABLE PHONE? What is Verizon up to this time? What's up with not announcing a release date? Who else is about to jump ship to another carrier due to this mess Verizon created? Why does it ALWAYS take Verizon so long to release phones? Why did the GS4 come out so quick?

Wonder if HTC can sue Verizon because of this ... Wouldn't be surprised!

I searched the site for HTC ONE and got a bunch of garbage back, nothing about the HTC ONE. As a matter of fact, the Verizon search page suggested that I was searching for Marijuana related info ("THC").

One additional question: Wouldn't it be more productive to post the link to said discussion, rather than what you did?

You did demonstrate the current thought process of Verizon's "Customer Service" or LACK THERE OF! This response alone seems like a good reason to jump ship. Should I refer the cancelation department back to you and your HELPFUL comments/questions?

I have been a Verizon customer since 1998, and have had data service since it existed. I have had 4G data service since the first 4G phone (HTC Thunderbolt) was released (April, 2011). Both my wife and I have been using HTC phones since Verizon introduced the HTC Apache (I believe that Verizon sold it branded as a UTStarCom XV6700 or something like that).The way the release of the device has been handled has really gotten on my nerves (obviously). I have been waiting on this device for a while so that I can call and attempt one last time to negotiate a contract price on the phone, but keep my unlimited data. If this can not be done, I will be leaving Verizon after 15 years with the understanding that I will be getting a lower quality service, but for a lower price as well.

So in short, I guess angry would sum it up fairly accurately.

here's the deal......verizon has never officially announced a launch. "the way the release has been handled" is just like every launch. they don't announce it until they know they are ready for it, which is usually days (or maybe a few weeks). i wanted them to get it too and wished they had it by now. but if you've been with them this long, then you know they don't make official announcements about launch dates until VERY near those launch dates. it was only recently that they even confirmed that they will eventually get it "later this summer" which could be any time in the next month or so. and ann is correct. unfortunately, the only way to keep unlimited data is to buy it at the full retail price.

Seems to me like her response was merely a reflection of the tone of your first post. Every time there is a device released on another carrier that a couple verizon customers want, this place gets clogged with a whole chunk of threads asking the same when, why where questions about the device. It gets real old trying to wade through those threads to find someone who needs help with a real problem.

Why can't Verizon just state a release date and release the phone like every other carrier in the country?

The reason is so that they can sell more DROID™ branded phones they make a few more bucks on.

Just read through the thread; always painful to watch as customers come to the realization that VZW is a business and that no one person (customer) is more important than the whole (making as much money as possible).

Every major decision is based on how they can make more money....period. If losing a few loyal customers is at risk yet the overall decision garners more money (profit), mission accomplished.

Why do you think every VZW rep pushes their shared data programs regardless of why you call or go into a store? Because they screwed up in the beginning by offering unlimited data plans. They as every one else had no idea back in the day what "data" would mean today.

In other words, if you knew that gold would more than double in price in the past 10 years wouldn't you have bought some? Or maybe not sold what you had 10 years ago? Same with data, VZW goofed...not fault of theirs. Who knew what the value would be today. VZW cringes every time they see grandfathered in customers getting unlimited data for $29.95 a month.

I digress....So why has VZW held off on the HTC One? My opinion, they knew several things long in advance:

- They still had a lot of HTC Droid DNA's to get rid of.

- They were already working on the new VZ Moto Droid series and knew the release of the One would hurt the Droid effort.

- Moto X.....Hmmmm, why do you think they are offering a watered down version (only 16GB and no customization)?

Sure makes the Moto Droid offerings more palatable. Oh yeah, we will get the 32GB and customization but it will be long after the bulk of Moto Droids are sold.

Verizon for the most part does not make bad business decisions, that is why they are the largest provider.

Do we like the decisions they make?? That's never been part of the equation.

I understand Verizon, I like their wireless service and customer service. Do they always do what I would like them to do, nope. Does it matter, nope. I am guessing that for every disgruntled customer that leaves they gain 100.

Is anything they do in regards to phones, release dates, etc. worth leaving...nope. One may leave and get the phone they want but than have to deal with sub-par customer service and really crappy cell/data service.

Everything is about compromise, know who you are dealing with and what their motivation is and how you fit in to the equation.

And lastly, these are my opinions and no way am I affiliated with VZW and my comments are not meant to offend or challenge anyone. If some think that I am full of ****, I am more than OK with that.

You've got to be kidding. The lack of information about the HTC One "launch" from Verizon is absolutely appalling.

Curb your cravings? Perhaps you are trying to make people feel better - but Verizon is really playing games this time.

Heres your answer, gsm is used world wide. Htc one was made for gsm so they can market it worldwide. At&t has the htc one because they run off gsm. Sprint has it because it runs off cdma and gsm (thats in the US). Verizon is cdma only (again thats in the US, same reason verizon customers cant roam on an at&t towers) yes you can run off off gsm globaly through verizon but not in the united states . So htc has to make a seperate addition for Verizon and transform it to a cdma network phone as its main source inorder to sell it in the Verizon Market. Same reason a company like US CELLUAR a cdma only network in US like verizon doesnt have all the high market phones.

Sprint's HTC One is CDMA/LTE, Verizon's HTC One would be CDMA/LTE

Sprint does not use GSM (well, technically LTE is a GSM variant), but Sprint uses different frequencies than Verizon, which is why their phones are compatible with the other's network.
