Hello,
So I am at my wits end with my home wifi. Very strange issue and even most techs have no idea how to fix it. So here we go. My internet provider is cablevision. I am currently running a uspeed wireless router 2.4/5g.
For some reason whenever I connect to home wifi with my cell phone, it will randomly shut down the wifi service. The signal still shows up, devices will still connect to it, but it will not download/upload data on any device until I unplug and restart the router/wireless. Now the strange part is, only MY phone does this to the wireless. My wife has an iphone 4s, we have a macbook, ps3, and ipad mini. All of these devices had no issues with my home wifi. The wifi will literally be trouble free for months, until I connect to it with my cell.
So at first I thought the cell might be the problem. Spoke with verizon support and they sent me a replacement device under warranty. At that time I had a iphone 4s. Once the replacement device came, still had the same issue. Yesterday I decided to upgrade my phone thinking maybe it was an iphone specific issue. I got a new samsung galaxy s4. Sure enough, came home, connected to wifi, worked fine for a few hours and then the wifi stopped working. Signal was still there, but nothing would download or upload.
Now I have also done my troubleshooting with my internet provider. They came, rewired my entire place, new plugs, etc. I also changed wireless routers. Initially I was running a linksys dual band wireless router. Thinking that was the problem I switched brands, yet the problem persists.
Any help is needed. Can anyone tell me why in the world only my personal cell has this affect on my home wireless and all of the other devices in the house work fine. Not being able to use home wifi really eats up my data as well. Thank you.
