when will note 2 update to 4.3
Good luck getting an answer to this. I'm starting to dislike Verizon for it's lack of allowance. Most other carriers have posted the update, most other carriers have unlocked bootloaders for this device. Verizon is a control freak. The other thing that ***** is that you could gett he update via KIES but KIES does not support the Note II.

From all interactions with Verizon, and reading support feedback. They don't care if you get the update or not. You are still paying the phone bill, your phone works and you can still make calls and check email. Device security clearly isn't a concern. Android 4.1.2 has many security flaws and providing a patch or means to protect the customer is not important to them.
This is why the note 2 will be the last android phone I own.
Fixius so if Verizon was hands off with the update and it was pushed off if your phone bricks who would you blame? This is why US carriers have their own approval process because they'd be blamed for something they have no control over. Think about it and think about Europe and who they blame. You'll see something interesting.
Verizon, where is the Android 4.3 update for my Galaxy Note II? I dished out full price, $700, for my phone, and have not received an update. I read that it was supposed to come on 11/29. I've checked several times each day but found no update. If I can't get an update there's no reason to stick with Verizon anymore.
i purchased the galaxy gear a few weeks ago hoping that I could use it with my note 2 by ow. I am sad about this. glad my contract is up. tmobile and at&t might get my business now. I really do not care about having the best network, i do care about being current.
It becomes the responsibility of the vendor as it should be. Not the provider of the phone service. The vendor/manufacturer should be taking the responsibility as it's a custom distribution of the android os. US carriers sticking their noses into the distributions and forcing the installation of bloatware makes them partly responsible, but that's also part of the problem.
We all know full and well that doesn't happen. People flash that 2 year contract and say expletives.
T-Mobile with the Nexus 4 and 5 are prime examples. Doesn't matter if carriers are hands off or hands off. If they get blamed either way might as well test it right?
Customers already set the bar of how things were going to be done when Android was adopted. When the G1 came out and T-Mobile was hands off. The MyTouch T-Mobile was hands off. The Cliq when Motorola said they were waiting for drivers for the GPU and T-Mobile was sued for taking too lobg and they were hands off. T-Mobile got sued for the Behold II just because Samsung said it could get 2.0(could being the keyword) and later on recanted. In Europe these same devices they blamed HTC, and Samsung and not their respective carriers.
We can go on and on about this, but techies majority would know better, but the majority are not techies.
If you have not already, download the Galaxy Gear APK file and copy to the SD card, then you can open it on the phone. It will work with the note 2 except for S Voice and Notifications. If you want more a nova launcher can be added to the watch and much more can be done with it including tethering your internet to the watch.
This is what I mean. A device completely out of the carriers hands no waiting nothing.

This doesn't happen in Europe. Things like this is what carriers can say and justify them doing extra quality checking in turn making updates come slower.
Sprint is being blamed for Nexus 5 32GB not being able to be activated on Sprint, but the 16GB activate just fine. They wrote none of the software.
Now what would you do if you get blamed for something you have no control over? Would you just take it and spend your money to fix it? Would you if having the opportunity to test it to reduce you having to spend even more money to replace, ship, troubleshoot would you do that instead?
i talked to verizon tech and samsung yesterday on the phone for 20 mins. the Tech stated she did not see an update listed for the note 2 in the near future, and samsung said there was nothing as of yet for the Verizon SCH-I605 series. This is aweful. I bought the Gear also, being told i would be able to use it ..... LIE!
Apparently you have to live in Canada if you want this update. Next up is Antarctica.
Well if Verizon Wireless does not push the update i will be switching companies i have around 10 contracts with them and we all use the note 2 and i will be switching we should not have to wait for the update and we should be able to use Samsung kies because the Verizon software updater is not a good software to use they need to make it better i am a IT professional and i know what i am talking about so verizon you need to push up your game. because i will be switching if we do not see the update soon.
I heard from a little blue bird that there is a good chance of it coming out on Dec 12. Lets hope it does!
I purchased the gear also, informed that it was able to be used by the sales person at the Verizon Wireless Store.
Hi pcboy4life,I understand your eagerness and we definitely don't want to lose you as a customer! When a new update is released details will be available here:http://bit.ly/n5snpq. Sad but so true.
The link as always is a standard link to VW advertising crap not relevant to the vast majority of users, I appreciate you following the script but it is not helpful at all. We understand they do not want to communicate news to the customers and thus have to keep their employees in the dark as well. It is sad that two smaller competitors can do what Verizon cannot and release 4.3 for the Note 2.
Verizon should add to their business model that they support the phone at least for the two year contract they trap people with instead of trying to get them to upgrade early, pay the full price, or add a line they do not need. Good business ethics would involve supporting the product in which you are selling and that would include, in a technological device, continued support for the life of the contract...
Can somebody from Verizon be honest and tell us if the upgrade is even coming. People are wasting their time and money purchasing the Gear. Its sad that every other carrier seems to have the upgrade but not the best carrier. I use to be a proud customer of verizon but this is my last year. I would no longer recommend them especially since they can never give you a direct answer. Been waiting for a month now and all I get is the run around.
I know what i have to say means nothing but.... i was at the verizon corp store today for something else, and the girl told me with the info she had. the note II wasnt showing as one of the devices that would end up supporting the gear watch.. which im guessing meant no 4.3? now just today i googled this info and found claims that carriers have Re-started sending the 4.3 update back out to note II owners ..... so im confused.
T-Mobile just started today. First rounds.
FYI - I said this before in other threads. The reps will never know a date of any kind for any update or even if the update is coming or not. Devs won't know until they are comfortable to push it out. People treat them like promises and things can change. The initial batch is always 1-5% of owners who will get the update. If a good number of users ends up with a brick they'll pull the update and fix the problem(longer wait). If that happens during beta same thing happens.
So relax and let them do what they need to do.
I have mine, it is coming soon!
how can they have time to worry about updates they are to busy marking up there data plans and trying to sell the the Air Drone
Now Google has sent out version 4.4 Kit cat.
We might see this before 4.3 update. I don't know what the Note 3 comes with but my Note 2 is only at 4.1.2 version.
I hear it could take 6 months until Verizon send out the updates. Question? Is it worth the wait???
How were you able to get that?
I have all the Nexus devices. I have yet to see a "must" have feature from 4.0 to 4.4.2. People will oooh and aaah the first few weeks and feel the same as it did before and makes you wonder about all the hoopla was about.
I agree in regards to the testing. How about when they put all that bloatware and take up a lot of memory on the device itself. The Note 2 didnt even have the calendar widget which every other wireless provider has; and it was taken off simply to have thier own BS apps work (which I dont use)......That sucks.
XDA has the power
From what I understand there have been serious "post-update issues" with the Samsung Galaxy phones, and I think Verizon has always been cautious about updates and the potential for major issues. I can understand and appreciate a corporate attitude where nasty posts about updates that haven't been made available are preferred over nasty posts about major issues with updates that have been made available. They do, after all, have to be prepared to handle the onslaught of customer service issues that I'm sure always occur after updates. As a tech guy, I would prefer to see optional updates made available for those who wouldn't mind agreeing to hold the carrier harmless and contribute information about the update in a constructive manner, but that prospect is probably riddled with legal challenges as well. For now I am (even if some-what anxiously) content to wait for 4.3 and my shot at the new Galaxy Gear.
/sigh
they are missing out on a lot of gear sales if they don't roll out this update i feel for you all, i hated to wait for an update from this carrier they are ALWAYS the last to update that's why i went to a custom ROM updates are fast and the developer community is very helpful you actually hear back from them within a day or two not like some carriers that after they got you in a contract you never hear from them except for when your late on your payment good luck to you all hope it rolls out soon
Great post and so absolutely true. Imagine if this company dealt with upgrades with the same urgency that they deal with getting payments. Unimaginable.
AT&T updated their Note 2 to 4.3 today which leaves Verizon LAST as USUAL. The AT&T update included an extra from Samsung called Premium Suite which we better damn sure be getting after being made to wait so stupidly long.
choochooman, Thanks for inquiring us about getting the latest software on your device. We work hard to make sure any software that is released that it will work properly on our network. To get the latest news on our updates I have provided a link to keep track of all our devices on the Verizon Wireless network. Thanks again for your time. http://vz.to/1bCKL5BPeterV_VZW Follow us on Twitter @VZWSupport
Tidbits is absolutely right, especially for 4.4. The Update is designed to bring all devices that have 512 Mb of ram to the same operating system. The move is a good concept but our Note 2 is capable of so much more with touch wiz than a simple 4.4 upgrade. The only factor that would matter to most I think would be if they wanted to use Google Wallet as they created a virtual secure element to allow touch to pay systems to function on a device that has been previously prevented from. This is not enough of a reason for or most IMHO to worry about that date. The 4.3 got us the galaxy gear full integration and once it is wide spread I do not think there will be as much noise for 4.4.
Not to rub salt in the wound but the Note 2 is officially the last flagship device to get 4.3. Verizon as we speak is now updating the Galaxy S III. Which imo opinion should have been 1st to receive it then the Note 2 then the S4 and finally the HTC One. Except Verizon rewards those who has bought their latest devices not their existing phones. I've seen this happen over and over. It's happened so often now VZW is the butt of jokes. Yet they've get the last laugh bc they are (removed) billions. Whoops! Stupid Swype I meant to say raking in billions. Swype you crazy knucklehead got me again. Verizon & Samsung lost a sale on the Knox Smartwatch bc of this fiasco. Hey buy our cool smartwatch but you can't use it so we stopped calling it a smartwatch and are now calling it our (removed) Samsung Watch.

Who's to say manufacturers didn't submit their updates before Samsung did? If I was a carrier I'd do FCFS.
Now they skip the Note 2 and update the OLDER S3. Unbelievable.
What are you talking about? The 4.3 update for the S3 is rolling out now, Verizon released the change log and the Note II must be close to a nationwide rollout with reports of people already getting the OTA.
After I got the update I posted Google+ how I got the update for my Note 2 by connecting and using through Verizon Upgraded Assistant. Then another person did the same thing and they also said worked for them as well. Then we were told that that yeah it updated to 4.3 sure but it wasn't exactly for the Note 2 but for the S4 that even though it updated to 4.3 that since it was originally for the S4 it would be missing many features because it's not the correct update for the Note 2. So I was wondering if it was true and if any knew the truth.
Its downloading for me now but this happened the other day and then said I was up to date. Do you have a screen shot of the about phone under settings? That should show the version of the update.
My phone is updating through the upgrade assistant and will hopefully be all set.
downloaded and upgraded mine and my buddies last night with the verizon assistant. just plugged into the computer and upgraded assistant then a notification came up for software upgrade. and done! and its working great. havnt had a problem like others from diff companies have been reporting.
Why are you replying to me when you have no idea what you are talking about? I said they skipped the note 2 and are updating the S3 which is an older phone. No one is getting any OTA updates for the note 2 yet or it will be on this page like the s3 is. http://support.verizonwireless.com/support/information/software_updates.html
Well my phone updated and here is the screen shot. So maybe documentation is coming.
And ofcourse 10 minutes after I post that I'm receiving the OTA update. Oyy
Check the docs now. They have been posted.
Mine is currently downloading the 4.3 software update... Hopefully wont take too long
