MAJOR BUG! - 4.3 Update-PHONE DOES NOT CHARGE!

Verizon, this last update has BROKE THE CHARGING OF THIS PHONE WHEN OFF.

1. Turn off Galaxy S4

2. Plug in charger

3. You will see a battery with a line through it..and a continual vibrate until your phone goes dead.

4. Turn on phone..let it boot up...plug in charger..works fine.
When can I expect a fix for this major bug?

BTW, if my phone runs out of battery life during normal use of the day I will no longer be able to use my phone..GET IT??

No longer be able to charge = DEAD PHONE. Verizon is liable for this failure.

Are you using the OEM charger or a third party charger? There might be a difference in the voltage and amps of the transformer in the charger that doesn't allow the phone to get the amount of power it requires to charge properly anymore.

I know I have a similar situation with a third party charger, but not the OEM chargers.

Subsequent to the upgrade, my phone died EVEN THOUGH it still had a 12% charge. The phone is completely dead. Using original battery and original Samsung charger. THe software killed the phone. I brought my phone to a verizon store and the Tech department could not resolve the issue.

Verizon, we NEED A FIX ASAP!!! This is an outrage and I hold Verizion liable when my phone dies. I am recording this for legal action.

OEM Charger that came with the phone. This is UNACCEPTABLE - Verizon screwed up..once again!!

Have you tried a different charging cable? Do a battery pull, or start it is safe mode to see if it will charge. A factory reset is also an option to try.

I haven't downloaded this update, and won't for some time seeing all the kinds of problems it is causing, but also look into your power settings to see if there are new menu options for charging from the update that need to be changed.

None of that works, Klue. To all readers: DO NOT DOWNLOAD THE 4.3 SOFTWARE UPGRADE. Every person I know with a Galaxy S4 at work who upgraded is having MAJOR problems. I am shocked that Verizon would release such faulty software without proper testing. Since the software killed my phone, Verizon sent me a new one, but I had to basically start form scratch with everything. I am not downloading the new software until it is clear that these issues have been fixed.

The update killed my phone to the point that I had a black screen and couldn't see anything at all, so couldn't even do a factory reset. Verizon had to send me a refurbished one which arrived yesterday. I have heard on this forum that the updates were frozen for now, but my CLNR phone is still prompting me to do the update. I really don't want to do the update until more of these bugs are worked out. Losing everything once was bad enough, and since it took four days to slowly kill it off, and I have read more about factory resets not helping than I have read about the problems being resolved, am not keen on a factory reset as being a good fix. Has anyone received a CLNR phone w/o the update that either prompts or doesn't to do the update?

I use the charger that came with the phone. I updated the software.

Aarrrggghhh...I wish I'd seen this thread sooner. I updated my S4 to the 4.3 a few days ago. Everything was fine (or so I thought) after the update - my phone kept refreshing the connection to my wifi at home but I put it down to a wonky router. Fri morning, the phone was ok when I woke up. A couple of hours later when I was out, I tried to check for messages and the screen was blank and the phone was not switching on. Even then I thought maybe the battery was dead...came back home and plugged in the charger - nothing / removed battery and put it back - nothing / tried a hard reset too - nothing.

Called verizon and they said they'll ship out a replacement.

Now I've not only lost all my data from June (when I got the S4 new) but my 4-5 month "new" phone has now been replaced by a refurbished phone. And all of this was avoidable if Verizon / Samsung would only have paid attention to all the problems their customers were facing....am telling everyone I know with a samsung phone to NOT update to 4.3 if they haven't already.

r5ani, see above. What happened to your phone is exactly what happened to mine. Did the update either on a Tues or Wed evening, and it started developing the Wi-Fi problems, one of my email accounts stopped working properly, and several other issues, but I hadn't even known an update was coming, and didn't even think to come on here and read these forums. I guess I had just been fortunate with my other OS updates, but then, this is my first and last Samsung, so I had no comparison. Saturday I put the phone on the charger and went to bed, as I usually do, and when I woke up it was very hot and very dead like yours. No resuscitating it at all. It was less than 4 months old and working perfectly fine before the update. They sent me a CLNR phone that has problems as well, though thankfully, it does stay connected to the Wi-Fi and it does charge. That's all the good I can say about it. I spent 5 hours on the phone Sunday between Time Warner, Verizon and Samsung. Samsung CS was by far the worse, and downright nasty, actually. Apparently, it is two updates behind 4.3, when I guess my unit was up to date with the exception of 4.3, so now they are saying it's a compatibility issue that my SD card cannot be read. And of course, I had everything, including my back ups, on my SD card. So I too have lost everything. I just worry that after a certain period of my refusing to do the update, that it may just go ahead and do it automatically.
