Galaxy S4 Active???

I've been with Verizon for many years and my contract is up again and I need a new phone/contract... is there any knowledge of the S4 Active (waterproof galaxy s4) coming to Verizon? At&t announced and started taking pre-orders for it last week and it will be available June 21st through them. I really would like to stay with Verizon if I can find a date that they will have this waterproof S4. But my phone has slowed more rapidly the longer its been since my contract has expired.. so if Verizon isn't going to offer this version of the S4, I will most likely switch providers in the coming weeks. Does anyone know if Verizon will get the Galaxy s4 Active? If so, Rumor of a release date?

I sure hope so. I am also waiting for either the s4 active or the g'zOne c811, whichever comes first. And I sure hope it is the g'zOne because I like the uniqueness of the g'zOne product line

I'm waiting on the same phone. The only waterproof phone that Verizon carries is the laughable G'Z One. Even the 'new' one expected to drop soon is at least two years behind the curve. The S4 Active is the only phone other than Xperia Z that can fill a gaping hole in VZW's device list. But the Z has been confirmed as exclusive to Tmobile, so the Samsung is the only option.

Thank you for the link to your news feed. I too am waiting and hoping for a VZW version of the Galaxy S4 Active. I'm not necessarily loyal to Samsung, but I would like a durable HIGH-END phone. Unfortunately, the specs I've seen regarding the new VZW Commando 4G LTE lead me to believe that while it will be more rugged than the Samsung, it will be more of a mid-range device. I too am eligible for an upgrade, and I too have been having significant problems with my current device (HTC Thunderbolt) as of late. (Ever since the OTA upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich back in February.)

I am an avid backpacker, camper, and biker, and I simply want a device that can keep up with me. My research leads me to believe that that device is a Galaxy S4 Active. As a loyal and generally satisfied customer of Verizon (note the previously mentioned activities and the need for a reliable signal even in rural areas), I hope to see a VZW version of the Galaxy S4 Active soon.

Yes, I'm in the same boat. Since the OS upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich on my Thunderbolt it runs slower than a turtle through peanut butter. I would kill for the S4 Active. Why is Verizon always the last to get these things???

I have an iPhone 4. And it hasn't gotten worse since downloading apps. Really just seems like it started shortly after my contract had expired and has continued to get worse over the months since. I just hadn't wanted to upgrade and renew a contract with a phone I didn't want. I'm wanting to get away from apple and the S4 active would suit my lifestyle amazingly. But everything I'm reading, even after today's Samsung event in London, is its only being put out through AT&T here in the US. I guess I'm gonna give it another week or so and keep researching to try and hear if Verizon will carry it, but unfortunately if they don't release any conformation on it soon... I have decided to switch. Blah. Lol

I too am ready for an upgrade and have been waiting for the Active to be released on Verizon. Over the last few months my Bionic has become amazingly sluggish and texting and typing has been painful due to speed and errors. I have loved Verizon's service through the years and would hate to switch providers to get the phone that fits my lifestyle. I am an avid outdoorsman - hunting, fishing, snowboarding, and basically anything outdoors. Verizon has given me awesome service in most all rural environments i find myself in. Having a waterproof/dust proof phone would be amazing and would save me a fortune on Ziplock bags.

Can Verizon provide ANY information about the Active? If Verizon is going to release it or not would be very helpful to know. Someone must know if this is in the works for Verizon. If it is, any hint of a possible release date? It is frustrating that Verizon has not even mentioned anywhere that I've researched, whether they will even be offering this phone. Throw us a bone, Verizon. At least we'll have an idea whether to keep holding on to hope or look for another Verizon offering or switch carriers. Either way, we'll know if we should keep agonizing with our current phones a little longer or just move on.

I personally would be very disappointed if Verizon did not step up and offer the Samsung S4 Active. I would hate to have to switch to iPhone 5 with the waterproof case. I really don't want an iPhone but don't know what would work best for my outdoor applications, remaining durable and waterproof.

I've been waiting for the Active, (or an Active-like phone - the Casio just doesn't have the horsepower) also. I hope VZW gets it soon. If not, I might need to go get it elsewhere... :smileysad:

I too am ready to try this phone. I had the casio and it had so many issues, verizon replaced it 3 times and then gave me a Droid 3. I'd try the regular S4, but feel the need for "ruggedized".

Total agreement. Our company has 5 phones with Verizon and Verizon has been our carrier for over 15 years. Two of our phones are the Thunderbolt models and ours are also increasingly slow! we would like to upgrade the phones but are holding off till a phone like this S4 Active is available. Do to our work environment and our lifestyles outside work, we would love them. After hearing of these yesterday I went to my Verizon store today to ask about them and they knew nothing about it. So my guess is that it will not be available to us Verizon customers. Hope this changes soon before I hurl my Thunderbolt out the window and shop around. :smileysad:

Hi, We are waiting for the S4 Active also. Husband is a plumber and needs waterproof phone, has casio also and been a good phone just wants smartphone now and I agree the g'zone doesn't, based on user comments, have what it takes. How can AT&T get now and Verizon not!!! Can only hold husband off for a couple of months at most so we may be switching to AT&T also if Verizon doesn't come through. Talk to anyone at Verizon and they know nothing about the Active. Been with Verizon long time happy with service just want a phone unavailable so far.

I have a small business with all of our phones under Verizon. I too am waiting on the Samsung Active - we work outside in the elements and this phone is much needed. I will be switching all lines to AT&T if Verizon does not get on board. At least some news on if they will ever get this would be nice.

The only rumors that are out for the s4 active are that it will be exclusive to att. I currently have the casio commando, and have been anxiously awaiting the c811, however after reading over the fcc filing on the next gen of the commando a month or so ago, am extremely disappointed to find out that the technology that will go into it is already out-dated. Dual core with 1.5ghz??? Come on Verizon, is this really your durable, water proof answer to ATT's s4 active?! It is ridiculous and insulting that Verizon does such a terrible job getting the best products for its customers. There are thousands of Verizon customers that would love to get their hands on the s4 active. If Verizon is going to boast to have "America's largest 4g lte network", than why not go the extra mile and get the best phones for Verizon customers to use the "largest 4g lte network" that they are paying for. In a year, when my contract is up, I will be headed across the street to ATT to sign a contract with a company that get's top of the line products for their customers when they come out, not months later when the next best thing is already being released. Step your game up Verizon, there's way too many people that pay hard earned money to a company that 1) doesn't get the products they desire and 2) provides pitiful to NO information about upcoming product launches.

Now that the 'updated' G'Zone has been released, the best I expect is for a vz rep to post about that crap in here. Even though it's not even in the same ballpark. Verizon is such a disappointment when it comes to devices. They either refuse to carry, or greatly delay, the best phones.

According to Verizon the reason they take longer than the other carriers to release their devices is they very carefully tweak the devices they allow on their network for reliability, quality and performance.

I'd also consider GS4 Active. I read somewhere it will be on Verizon on July 1st, which doesn't seem to be true. I asked about this from an online agent and she was totally clueless about this device. She said we have cases to offer such properties!

I would steer clear of the casio g'zone commando 4g lte. the reports from last year include details about a second high end phone. quad core, huge screen, blah blah. I've been waiting for the g'zone for a year and ill be waiting til monday to see if the s4 active has any new info or a release. then decide if ill end up with the commando 4g prepared to return it.

Anyone else see the irony of this? I mean, Jonathan, you're replying to my comment doing exactly what I expected: Shilling a product that is extremely sub-par compared to the device we're asking about. The G'Zone (4G) fills a VERY small niche of people with low performance expectations and a (perceived) need for something that can be run over and survive. Otherwise it does absolutely nothing as well as the Active, or even Xperia L. So, basically, none of us are interested in it. I got the previous gen for my 10yr old son, and it is barely good enough for that duty. We are asking about news/info regarding the S4 Active. Do you have any?

I had a Casio Smartphone. It had so many issues Verizon took it back after a year. I won't trust any Casio Smartphone to work right after that experience. It's why I am hopeful for the samsung. And yes, I see the irony.

another vote for s4 active!!! My contract is up in August, and I'm eligible for an upgrade now, along with another line on my account. i'm not impressed with any of the phones in Verizon's lineup right now.

I too have a need for the Galaxy S4 Active! I'm a long time Verizon user, and my HTC Incredible just died (most likely from humidity this summer), and I need something I can take on a bike ride in my jersey pocket without worrying about having it get wet, or sweaty, or whatever's caused my old HTC to die. The S4 Active is the only phone I've seen that really fills the bill on mid- to high end smartphones-- and don' suggest one of those clunky waterproof cases-- a zip-lock bag works better. PLEASE let us know if and when this will be available on Verizon. As long as we're held hostage to 2 year contracts, a little knowledge of future plans doesn't seem like a lot to ask...

I'm eligible for an upgrade now with Verizon and so is my wife (she has at&t). We just can't get together on when our contracts are up and when we upgrade. This may solve our problem though. At&t offered her $100 off the new contract price PLUS A $100 statement credit which made her S4 Active basically free. They also offered $200 off the cost of a galaxy tab 2 which I will look forward to playing with.

I called Verizon and asked if they had anything similar and the customer service rep offered me they galaxy S4 for $199 which she explained was a great deal because "It retails for over $600". I've been trying to get her over to verizon but at the end of this month when my contract is up I'll be joining her at At&t.

BOBD - You're right in that with each passing freeze up on my current phone, I'm closer and closer to having to make a decision. However, with all of the hybrids that Samsung has spawned from this S4, I'm hoping that maybe another flavor is in the works like a Samsung S4 Mini Active (would rather have the smaller screen and the rugged cover - I already have enough tablets.)

Oh well, it's been a good phone but gotta go and perform CPR on my Charge again - praying that someday I get a DNR order and not have to do that anymore.

But I was reading over on CNET on their review (nice review!) in the comments section where someone supposedly bought the new phone, got it wet and it doesn't work now. He/she posted the online chat he had with the agent who told him that the phone was not covered for water damage. WHAT? Seems odd. I am with you all that the range of smartphone options is frustrating and would like to add my voice screaming for the Samsung S4 Active... not the Casio or any other phone. We want the S4 Active. And please stop downplaying our intelligence as consumers by suggesting that we have not researched the difference or by trying to sell accessories to give the illusion of imitating a superior product. Simply acknowledge that we, the consumers, know what we want.

That being said to Verizon, this is for the rest of you... Give poor Johnathan a break. Have none of you really put together that Samsung made an exclusivity deal with AT&T and that Verizon is powerless to do anything about it until the term of the deal is up? If you're really that unhappy, then go. I don't know about you all, but the horror stories I hear from friends & family on the other providers far eclipse any irritation I've ever had with Verizon. In case y'all didn't know this, the service provider doesn't make phones... they are given product lines available from the manufacturers and then decide which to pick up from what's available. Right now, I'm beyond frustrated with my Droid X2 deciding to crap out right before renewal time, but that is the phone. Let's all be civil and informed consumers and make our desires known without resorting to childish threats and name calling.

So, in short...

1) Verizon: Please communicate with Samsung that your customers are very much interested in the Galaxy S4 Active and let us know that you at least hear us and will do what you can, though you refuse to make empty promises.

2) Customers: Either leave or act like grown ups. If you're old enough to be a client, you're too old to be throwing tantrums.

I just think it is humorous that the VZW rep said their smartphone lineup is second to none.

AT&T has every single top smartphone that VZW has. By top I mean S4, iPhone 5, Note 2, HTC One, and S4 Active.

Not only do they have the Active, but they have the HTC One in 32/64 GB versions, and they have a Red S4.

AT&T has a significantly superior smartphone lineup to VZW.

VZW, you can continue to claim you have the best network because you do. But don't fool yourself or try to fool us by saying you have the best smartphone lineup, because AT&T is blowing you away. If nothing that should at least scratch your pride and motivate you to improve.

For me, I was waiting for the HTC One. I've been seriously considering going to AT&T to get the 64GB version because it's unlikely VZW will get it, and even if they do it looks like it will be Sept (yeah that isn't "soon"). But I'm leaning towards just getting the regular S4. It's a very nice phone and it has a better screen and camera than the S4 active.

It just would be nice to have the same choices AT&T customers have.

Buy a Trident armoured case that will protect your GS4 better then the built in's the Active offers. Then you won't have to settle for a dumbed down GS4.

I just visited the ATT site to read customer reviews on the Active and it doesn't seem the design construction is all that promising. Numerous reports of the phone leaking when exposed to water arguably splash resistant at best. If this isn't fixed I would venture to say Verizon will never carry the line since they don't like to deal with these kind of customer service issues imo that is why they always wait to release phones.

This is only one city that other carriers are catching VZW coverage and speeds. I moved to AT&T because their service is faster and on par with VZW while giving me allot more phone choices without vital functions stripped out and craptastic bloatware inserted by my cell company that should only be providing me cellular service. With VZW's phone lineup and slowing data speeds, I made the jump before the congestion gets worse and throttles me down to the slow CDMA speeds your company is know for on 3G. On AT&T I still get fast 4G LTE speeds (17MB download and 9 MB upload) and pretty swift HSPA+ speeds (around 8MB down and 3MB up) when I can't get 4G LTE. Let customers know what speeds they get when they lose 4G LTE on VZW. I'll let them know because it was part of the reason I left after 16 years: 3G on VZW will get you about 900kb down and 128kb up if your lucky. By the time I left VZW on 6 July 2013, my Galaxy S3 with 4G LTE showing on the screen was only pulling 2mb down and 500kb up. This was from the 4th replacement phone that your company sent me. After further troubleshooting, the network technician had to admit that it was network saturation driving my speeds down and to not be upset because it was covered in the "fine print" of my contract related to possibly not being able to get true 4G LTE all the time in a known 4G LTE area. Congestion is a mother huh?

Hey, first time replying here. I'm also looking for the for S4 Active. Have been with Verizon for life, better said I had and still have their first flip phone. Sad to say it looks like it's time to go elsewhere. Granted they have the best network, but today if you live in a large city that really isn't an issue any more, 10 years ago I would argue that, but not today.

As for the "Verizon Wireless Customer Support" posting, I have one question, WHERE IS THEIR SUPPORT TODAY. That seemed to vanish several years ago. I have 3 Smart phone users under my plan today. We all had the Droid 2 and the Droid 4. Better said together in the last 3 to 4 years we have 19 of these so called top of the line phones. Several of these phone I had to spend the $99.00 fee for replacement. When the Droid 4 came out I was assured by Verizon all my problems would go away. Needless to say they got worse, with all the problems we had from these phones.

I'll just tell you 1 and you can guess the rest. WE CAN NOT CALL OR RECEIVE PHONE CALLS. YOU KNOW, WHAT THE BASIC FUNCTION OF THE PHONE IS FOR. The front ear piece will distort and get worse after only 1 week of use. When answering a call, OOPS sorry can't tell you about that, the screen and buttons lock up, YOU CAN'T , you have to shut down and restart the phone and call them back. And yes we have cleared all that is possible for memory access and also upgraded the OS when ever it was available. Also you can't say I had a bad phone, you can say I had 19 bad phones from Verizon

At 2 location in my area I tried to have them exchange for other models, and that was fine as long as I paid FULL price for the new phone. So needless to say I'm going on 4 years with phones from Verizon that don't even work as a phone. I gave up on having them replaced. OK so where is your customer service???? After doing allot of research the Galaxy S4 Active is the next phone I'll be getting and it looks like it won't be with Verizon. And to mnoe860 on the GS4 Active, the TV commercial does say there water prof, but on line you will see that they are labeled as water resistant. I guess you can thank lawyers for that.

It's a shame that the Company went this way, but what can I say, like I said before, I'm going on my 4 year with phone's that do not function properly and Verizon just won't lift a finger to help a life time cell phone customer. That's pretty sad for a top cell phone company.

Verizon will have the phone in 3 months. I have seen this before between companies. When they say a phone is "exclusively" with one provider they usually are and then right around three months after the phone was released to the public it goes to the other carriers. The thing is AT&T were on the ball and probably paid samsung a large amount of month for exclusive rights to it for an allotted time. They do this just to get people to leave their providers to come to AT&T (which is a crappy serivce here). I'm willing to bet that Verizon execs are pissed that AT&T beat them to the punch but I bet they will do the same thing for the next phone that is "the next best thing". Give it about three months (if you can) and watch, they will either be selling the S4 active through verizon or it will be announced that it's coming.

My contract is up in the next two months and I would really like to keep Verizon as my provider but if the Galaxy S4 Active isn't available through Verizon then I will switch my account to AT&T in order to get the Active version of this phone. I am a hiker, runner and spend a lot of time outdoors. Having a phone that is waterproof and designed for active people is a must have for me.

GOT INFO ON SAMSUNG S4 32GB from Verizon. Just bought 2 of them.

First sorry for venting my problems on the last post

Second, had go to 2 Verizon Stores in my area, not a Stand or Booth in a mall. The first store the Verizon sales person didn't even know how these phones work. Tried to sell me a 16GB phone and was trying to convince me that they were the same. "Just add memory" is all they could say. She actually started to do the paper work as I was trying to tell her that she was wrong, I had her go on line to see the difference. Once she seen it she argued again saying it didn't matter. She actually said "My S4 with 16gb is fine and also works fine with the new OS system" you know the one that isn't out yet. My big issue is the future OS's they will be bringing out not what is out now. Needless to say I walked out of that store.

I did allot of research on these phone and thought I wanted the SG4 Active until I read several post of them being allot slower that the SG4. They may have there purpose but not what I was looking for. If your a big time gamer you want the SG4 64GB. The internal memory is the main issue with these phones. Adding a large memory card DOES NOT RESOLVE THE PHONE LOW MEMORY ISSUE. Now 16GB is OK, but less than 6 months their all saying it will slow your phone down. SG4 32 is the way to go.

Sorry I should have saved and posted these links that explain it all to you. God forbid that a Verizon rep would understand this. The best way I can explain it is that the OS only uses internal memory NOT EXPANDED MEMORY, there is a way to do this but it will void all warranties and not allow you to use the factories OS's. That's the issue with gamers and these phone's, you need to install OS's, games and apps on the internal memory. Once all of this is install you still need this memory to run the phone. Expanded memory is just that, it is for storage of pictures and music and what ever else you may have.

Only downer is that it had to be ordered and I'll receive them early next week in the mail. Also read, (not sure how true) there is issue at Samsung and they can't keep up with orders, which means once these are gone you may have to wait a bit to get one.

Hey Verizon are you ever gonna get you act together. For a top Cell phone company why don't your reps know or understand how these phones work. I think the biggest mistake I made was going to a Verizon Store today, it just got me frustrated. I really feel sorry for the uniformed, their just getting WRONG info at these stores. I could have done all of this at home on line, or better yet called, you know the old fashion way.

I'm not a high end tech like others, but I hope this will help others if there in a similar position as me. The best I can tell you is to do some research and do not trust a Verizon rep on these issue or questions, they just don't know, and want to sell you anything they have at that time. With out being rude to all Verizon reps, my opinion is that they will lye to you just to make a sale.

4 Years without a properly functioning device is way too long, MAK_LTC. I want you to have a phone that works in the way it was intended to work. I understand your screen is locking up and you aren't able to make/receive calls at this point, but I am curious to know if we were able to troubleshoot with you to test these different functions (up to the hard reset).

The phones all have a 1 year warranty from the manufacturer, but if you have insurance on the device, that extends the warranty. You should only have a deductible if there is physical or liquid damage or if the phone becomes lost or stolen.

The warranty covers the same make & model.

The issues I've had with my phones over the past 3 to 4 years (with around 19 phone) were all troubleshot by reps at Verizon stores, not booths or stands. 3 users on my plan had these phone. They all seemed to say the same thing at the end of testing, there is a problem that we can see and it will be replaced for free.

(There were a couple that did get abused, I believe there were 2, one dropped in a pool and one left in the rain.)

Other than those 2, I got replacements that only lasted for a week or so, not even a month. These were all Droid 2 and Droid 4 phones. Back with the Droid 2 I asked for a different model after I received the replacement that had issues and was told no they can't. When the Droid 4 came out I got them, I was told all my issues would go away, needless to say they didn't. Once again I asked for a different model and was told no. After my 3rd replacement of the Droid 4 I gave up.

The reps always had a reason that the next phone would be fine, and update or patch (?) would solve my issue. needless to say none of these fixes worked. I will say this, in the store or out of the box from shipping they worked OK, but less than a month my 2 kids and me would see issues once again. It was obvious that these models had issues, but once again they would not let me change the model unless I paid full price. The worst part is that a couple reps did agree with me but still wouldn't or couldn't do any thing about it.

To me this is not any form of customer support, it just seemed to me that I was getting the runaround just to keep me happy or get me out of the store.

Can't hear through the front ear piece:

Volume so low you couldn't make hear them talk,

Voice so distorted you couldn't understand anyone.

Answer a call:

No response from front screen or key pad. Have to restart phone, and call them back.

Answer a test:

Couldn't swipe it down from top of screen when texting others, had to got back to main screen to retrieve new text.

Write text:

Allot of time the keyboard wouldn't type what you pushed on keyboard, or bounced to other screens when trying to text.

Internet:

Sometimes it would work OK, but allot of time it seemed the the web or the phone just locked up.

I will say this, with music or videos they worked fine, but it's a phone not just a media player.

I know it's not Verizon's network but more so the Motorola phone's, but still why are we told they will solve any and all issues when they don't. And like I said some, reps agreed with me but couldn't do anything about it. This is in no way customer service.

I have been in the repair service since I was 16, I am now 51. I never heard or seen anything like this in my job over the years. At this time I am a "Network Support Specialist" and when there is an issue it is resolved, buy actually fixing a network issue or fixing the PC or replacing it. If I gave my users the results that Verizon gives me I would be unemployed, no company would stand for this kind of treatment. But for some reason Verizon gets away with it. Sad to say I am forced to believe that more people buy this bull from Verizon than don't. I don't mean to call anyone stupid on these issues, just uninformed. And when I talk to most of these reps I know (from my history) that they are simply lying to me, or just don't have the knowledge them selves about these phones but try to make you feel that they do.

I'm with you !! I don't like rhetoric, but leaving a company who provides the (undeniably) BEST service in the industry is a fool-hearted move.

1. There could be an exclusivity in place with Samsung - like there was with iPhone, but that's doubtful since Verizon already offers the Samsung.

2. Verizon - LTE is not the same as ATT 4G - ask anyone who has experienced both (or look up a few reviews). Why do you think ATT spends so much marketing money trying to convince people "more is better". Verizon customers shouldn't need any convincing because we already have MORE.

3. Verizon's service expectations by customers has been set very high. We won't put up with poor service because Verizon has done a fantastic job keeping us online, fast, and repaired without hassles. They even retroact a fee reduction if you deserve it. All this at a competitive cost (I did not say low/lower/cheap). But you get what you pay for.

4. I like to have the newest technology in my hands too, but not at the expense of quality service, no dropped calls (anywhere), and the largest network footprint of any carrier. (Not just Urban areas, but where I travel and need to communicate).

5. If tit takes Verizon a little more time to configure, test, and release a product - I will wait. If you aren't satisfied with the wait, you would be better to purchase a pay as you go phone so you can get back on board when the phone you want is released.

Verizon - please improve one more thing.

Give us some insight into what you have planned so we can plan our purchases too.

I highly doubt that Verizon will get the Galaxy S4 Active, since the AT&T commercial for the S4 Active says it's an AT&T Exclusive phone

Seidio is making a waterproof case for 80.00. Worth every penny to stay with Verizon as far as I am concerned. I hate ATT.

I think Verizon needs to work on there notification output regarding devices. I signed up for updates as to when the Nexus would come out and was assured we would be one of the first to know. Well I found out they were available at the store from online site while away at work. Disappointed that first to know became last to get. Yes Verizon we would like to see the S4 active in the lineup, but we don't want to wait until Christmas + some to get it.

You can get the Blackberry Z10 right now! That is the latest and greatest Blackberry phone out yet. It has everything! No one wants it; it is being made by a dead company walking and will soon be an orphan. That is the sort of forward thinking that you can expect. Any company clinging to only a single protocol like CDMA or GSM s doomed to fail.

BTW, I am using a Casio Commando that is out of its contract...all my phones are out of contract. But I am going to limp along until I can get my hands on the S4 Active or the HTC One. Phones should not be this hard or contentious, folks. I am pretty sure we are being played here...and by all other phone carriers.

Argh! Just went into an actual Verizon store (not an authorized retailer) 2 days ago and asked for the Samsung S4. Rep asked me if I wanted black or white, no mention of 16 or 32GB! I guess I'll be going back on Monday since of course I walked out with a 16GB, not realizing I was given the inferior model. I'm sure they'll try to stick me with a restocking fee. Can you imagine walking into an Apple store and that happening? It would be the first question after asking for the iphone 5! Thanks Verizon.

The last four Verizion stores I visited I asked for the 32gb version but they didn't have any. I purchased the 16gb S4 online after the latest update provided for Apps to be placed on the SD card, there by negating my needs for a 32 gb model.

I would as well. The thing that VZW probably doesn't get, is that they could exist in the same ecosystem without cannibalizing each other. They are for very different markets. It doesn't matter, though. Verizon will continue to carry the lowest-common-denominator devices that they can control regardless what we, the vocal minority, say on the matter.

I just saw this... now I am thinking that maybe Verizons "splash" proof guarantee is just more honest so I might consider one of those phones instead and try to get a life proof type box for added protection.
