Android 4.1.2 navigation voice not working

I have Samsung Galaxy SIII, Android 4.1.2, Kernel version 3.0.31-1152558

Navigation app changed and I don't know what caused the change. It now gives google maps without voice. It is not possible for me to use a phone that doesn't give voice guidance for navigation. How can I revert to the Navigation that gives voice announcements ? Please help !!!

There is a mute setting in google maps you have to be in navigation mode to access it. Open google maps and start navigating to an address. After navigation starts in bottom right you will see a menu setting (3 dots) click on and make sure voice guidance is not muted (third item down).

The interface I used to get when clicking on Navigation icon has changed. I guess update of Google Maps caused it. In the earlier interface when I enter address it would give voice directions. In the new interface after selecting an address from history or entering a new address I need to click Start to start voice directions. Also I need to check if voice guidance is not muted, Thanks for pointing it out.
