HTC Thunderbolt keeps freezing

Question

Have had an HTC Thunderbolt for a little over 2years and have never really had any issues. Within the last month or so I now find myself having to take out the battery (few times a day) to unfreeze the phone.  Also the phone is very slow to respond to any commands such as making a simple phone call,texting etc.  in general the phone is very slow.  Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for the reply Budone.

After I backed everything up and removed the SD Card what I ended up doing was a factory data reset.  Phone works like new as if I took it out of the box.  After so many years of downloading apps it needed a good cleansing.
