Battery issues after Verizon update (Sam. GS4)

I am have terrible battery drain after Verizon update a couple of days ago. i will go on and say it ive done nothing different than before the update. my wife with the same phone hasnt done the update and no issues with her. Ive checked numerous forums and hundreds of people having the same issue. Verizon you better fix this or your going to have alot of pissed customers calling. anyone with same issue or more important a solution

Same issue, and I came here looking for solutions. A Google search showed Samsung is offering battery replacements on the S4 that are affecting about 30% of the devices, but it seems too coincidental that mine was fine until the update 2 days ago. Now I am losing 50% of my charge 3 hours into the day!

I had the same issues and wondered what the OTA update did that caused this problem. After doing my own research, I performed a factory reset and now my battery is working much better.

I also am having the same issue. Yesterday my full battery lasted about 6 hours. I just tried chatting with someone online with Verizon and they basically said that oh well thats the price you pay for having a smart phone. I was like no you are not understanding. The phone lasted for much longer until just a few days ago.

Good news! I was able to get help from Samsung support chat to clear the device's cache, which did seem to help. Try this and see if it fixes your issue.

Let us perform Wipe cache your device to isolate the issue. It will not delete any data, it only deletes the unwanted Cache in your device and optimizes the device performance.
Power the device off (remove and re-insert the battery).
Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key, then press and hold the Power key. When the device vibrates; release only the Power key.
When the Android system recovery menu displays; release the Volume Up and the Home key.
Navigate with the Volume keys to the wipe cache partition option and press the Power key to select.
After user data deletes, press the Power key to reboot system now.
