Why doesn't the Verizon Messages app work over wi-fi?

Hello, all,

Until recently, I used the verizon messages app to send/receive texts over wifi on my gs3 when I had no cellular/data reception. Now it will only send/rec when there's cell reception.

But...the app does still work over wifi onmy galaxy tab 2 7.0.

Why could this be? Did a recent app update break txt over wifi for the gs3?

Hey there Abe_Frohman,

The Verizon messages app is a great way to sync your text messages over multiple devices. I use it myself. I have no issues using the app when connected to WiFi so you shouldn't either.

Edit: Verizon Messages supports usage with Wi-Fi on tablet, iPhone, and the web service. Use of Verizon Messages over Wi-Fi is not yet supported on other smartphones.

This does NOT work on the Galaxy S3.

Airplane mode ON, Wifi ON, No network mode is available in Airplane mode. So...only wifi is available. When I try to send a text with only wifi available I get "Network not available. The message will be sent when the network is available"

BUT...On my Galaxy Tab 2 (non-verizon), This DOES work. On the tab 2 with only wifi available, I CAN send text messages using Verizon Messages.

So....again...

On Galaxy Tab 2 with only WiFi available...texting with Verizon messages DOES work.

On Galaxy S3 with only WiFi available...texting with Verizon messages DOES NOT work.

Please fix Verizon Messages to work over WiFi using Galaxy S3.

Can anyone duplicate Verizon Messaging app not working over WiFi on GalaxyS3?

Put the GS3 into airplane mode. Then enable WiFi. Try sending a text using the Verizon messaging app.

Just curious...is Verizon Wireless Customer Support considering this to be closed?

Are you saying that there is no text or picture messaging over WiFi specifically on the Galaxy S3 phone? As opposed to no text and picture messaging over WiFi on any device?

Because there IS text and picture messaging over WiFi on the Galaxy Tab 2 (with only WiFi) using the Verizon messaging app. I do it all the time.

Why does this app work for text over WiFi on the Galaxy Tab and not the Galaxy S3?
