Why not just create a new text message "conversation" with that one person rather than "responding" to the group message?

On my android phone I can have a drop-down menu that offers me a "modify recipients" option. I just delete all the recipients except for the original sender.
i would say, since you only want that one person to see your text, why not just draft a new message and send him/her..much easier (:
