EnV Touch Update

Hello everyone I have an update awarness note for you.

The following software has been released VX11KV08, however it has been pulled from the LG Mobile Updater. Reasons for it being pulled may have been because of some phones being "bricked" by it. However the release came with a new browser called Polaris 7 that gives the Touch many new application uses. It is expected that LG will provide further work on the update and call it VX11KV09*, within two weeks of the LG release Verizon stores should begin to carry the software files to update your Touch. I would like to remind all Touch users that updating your phone is very important as it clears away bugs that may be causing you problems and or provides further security for your phone. Do not update the phone yourself unless you are familiar with the software format. Take it into a Verizon store to have it professionally done. This update may also have bug patches such as fixing when your phone restarts itself or etc.

Please stay tuned for further notifications on this software release.

* VX11KV09 software name is not officially announced by LG or Verizon.

1) This update may be made available within a month, however this may not be the case.

2) Do not bother Verizon asking for this update as they themselves have not been notified of its release.

3)Polaris 7 Browser is different from the Obigio Browser installed on software versions VX11KV07 and below. it is more advanced and set for a Touch device.

4)The "newest officially supported" version software is VX11KV07.

5)Software used to update the phone is the LGMobile Software Update program.

6)Verizon stores use a program called LGNPST which is set up for them to have more direct access to the files. (DO NOT ATTEMPT TO USE THIS SOFTWARE)

7)More features are probably involved with this software but have not yet been featured or released.

Thanks for this information. When I got the 05 update in the Verizon store, I lost my calendar appointments. I have not gotten the 07 because of that experience.

Is it typical for an update to lose data? I don't use the internet on my Touch so I don't know if I'll risk getting the update since I don't need a different browser.

Another question I have asked on several forums. Is there a fix for the disappearing Notes when you use the QWERTY entry?

A: It does always happen in an update but it can such as in your case. If you have Microsoft outlook you can sync your calendar so you wont loose that information. It is still advisable to update your phone as it may fix other problems with the phone.

Q:Another question I have asked on several forums. Is there a fix for the disappearing Notes when you use the QWERTY entry?

A: It may be released in an update to fix that issue and I do believe it was resolved with the 07 update however I may be wrong. It never hurts to update and find out.

Will this update trigger data plan? I bought Env Touch for my wife before the mandatory data plan requirement, if I update her phone, will I need to add a data plan?

A: No, this will in no way have an effect on your plan. This is a update for the phone itself it does not affect the Network.

Version 8 was released to stores today, however they may not have the software on their computers systems yet to download onto the phone, it wont be untill 1-2 weeks for all Verizon stores to be fully aware of the program update. Check in with your local store today to see if they have it in!

Does anyone know if vx11kv08 is compatible with the enV touch hw version rev 1.0?

I'm going to call around to the vzw stores to see who might have it....

just got home from verizon a while ago, didn't think the update did anything and went to my verizon (btw do they charge u by going on there?) and the browser is AMAZING! it has tabs and it looks like the google chrome browser only blue, as far as that thats the only change i noticed. still amazing though :smileyhappy:

I for one will never use the updater tool. I have read to many compaints and issues with it. It works for some and not others. I would rather take it to a store and have them update it. If they ever get the bugs and kinks worked out I may reconsider it, but not now. So does anyone know if version 9 is available at stores yet or just through the updater tool?

It is only available through the updater right now sorry for the inconvience. If you have your drivers all updated and are patient allowing it to complete (have100% not 99%) then you will not have any problems.

Hi - I meant to get back earlier...

Went to the Verizon store for the update as the updater wouldn't work to bring me from v4 to v9.

The browser is much better and faster. One negative is that when you use the touch screen to type into a web page (ex: username / password) you no longer have punctuation on the first screen. You have to toggle to the next screen on the keyboard for a period. Not as efficient as before.

Before the update I was starting to get locked out of the Browser. After the update the problem hasn't come back. Good news, but thinking a reset would have cleared some memory leak.

Unfortunately the update did not resolve what I refer to as the "Bluetooth Lockout" issue. (when you have a missed call, voicemail, or text prompt on your screen you cannot intiate or answer a call using the buttons on your bluetooth device.) A Verizon employee tried to help me out, but I was able to show him that it happens on their floor models too. I was told that they'd submit the problem...

Do you know if this new update that you spoke of, has been released to the Verizon stores. I liked my "touch up until about three weeks ago when it started resetting itself several times a day & the touch screen would not allow viewing of incoming calls while on another call. I had to open the phone to see who was calling, etc. I tried going to the LG updater online, but it said there was no support. My phone is less than 3 moms old.

I echo the same sentiment about my EnV Touch phone as well. What's up with the constant resetting? I am running V09 with the Polaris7 Browser and it constantly resets my phone during browsing sessions. It also labors to process web pages even though it's based on WebKit topologies. Vexing indeed! My phone also turns itself off for no apparent reason while sitting idle. This is my fourth version of the phone as well and I know there are rumbling of the next firmware version in the works, but will it even address these issues? Is there a hardware limitation for this phone as well that the software cannot address? Is the software too much for the processor or is it blowing the memory allocated to run it? Again, vexed...

I'm on the kv04 firmware yet and my phone has been resetting the wallpaper touschreen settings and all that good garbage when I power it on. Ive read a firmware update will fix it...I downloaded the LG updater. It downloads the update but then It says Version is not supported. If I take the phone to a verizon store can they do they update?

Yes they will upgrade you to the lastest which is kv09.

Go to your local Verizon Store to have your EnV Touch updated to the latest software release (still V09).

Hello,

I recently switched from an LG ENV 2 to an LG ENV Touch. I love the phone and I have accepted it's functional flaws, but my data usage is out of control. I need email and Facebook access for work purposes mostly, on my ENV2 I had 75mb and I could email/Facebook as much as my heart desired and never go over 75. Now I've had the Touch for about 1 week and I'm already halfway up to my 75mb limit and I've had to cut out my Facebook usage entirely and only check my email a few times a day. Is this supposed to happen with this phone?
If so i might be going back to the ENV2 or 3.

If you haven't yet downloaded the Opera Mini-Browser, try it. It may be more data efficient than the default browser.
