Can't send text message on my father-in-laws new verizon galaxy s3 (3 days old)!!!

Need a comprehensive multi-step fix routine since I've seen and tried countless fiixes from multiple threads

With zero Success. Most recent was a fix from Verizon community to" power down, then remove battery' then

Remove SIM card and waited 60 sec. I then I reinserted sim card and battery and powered-up tried a message

Send and got another "failed". 4g& 3 to 4 bars is consistently displayed and here's. the kicker.. My old galaxy s3

Can send and receive on the same table as the new one. But the new one fails to send to mine and it can't receiveA text from

Mine or from my daughter in charlotte( I can both send and receive from her.

Please help.....

Our common goal is to get these messages flowing again, THNkit. I marked breezex's reply as helpful because I am interested to know whether or not your Father In Law changed from an Apple operating system to the Android operating system.

If so, I will provide the comprehensive multi step fix here.

If he still has the iPhone, ensure the phone is connected to WiFi or 3G in order to have changes sync with the Apple ID.

Go to Settings>Messages>iMessage (turn off)

If you have other Apple devices registered with the same Apple ID, then you will also need to deactivate iMessage on them as well (iPad, iPod, Mac).
