My 3 month old Galaxy s3 can not receive calls

Over the past several weeks I have not been receiving calls. Incoming calls go directly to voicemail with no notifications.

I can not access my voicemail by dialing *86 either. I have spent several hours on the phone with tech support, going through all the steps of powering down, restarting, taking sim card out, battery, test call, etc. eventually we can get a call through, but that only lasts for a day or so. I have several network repair tickets, the latest has been inactive for 4 days. Is there anyone out there that actually had this problem fixed? Should I be out looking for an iPhone or a new carrier...which is it?

Hi, I'm new to this whole smartphone thing. I had a Motorola flip phone for years with no problems. I was so exited when I first got my new phone. I picked this phone as I have a new granddaughter, and I make daily calls to my daughter and 84 year old father. I thought the new phone would be lovely to keep up on daily happenings with the new baby. 3 months later and I am so upset, I have a year long contract with this phone, I am not able to receive calls and I can barely make a call out. sometimes when I call out It will not connect at all, if I do connect it is spotty and I can barely pick up every 3 or 4th word on the other end of the call. The Verizon store is no help at all, Heartbroken, my father is in the beginning stage of Alzheimers, and daily calls are very important, I am lucky if I can reach him once every 2 or three weeks! Have no Idea what to do, would not recommend this phone or service to anyone.

The last thing I want is for your to be heartbroken due to your phones performance! I absolutely understand how important it is to stay in contact with your father and of course every one else. Do you notice this mainly happening indoors or in a specific location? What zip code are you located in?

I had the same problem today. I called the help line, I was transferred to tier 2 and talked to Kim. She was very helpful. She updated some SW and now I receive calls. Took less than 10 minutes

Thank-you Melissa, I will see what version I am running and let you know. 81210 is the zip code for Almont CO. where I live. I think I have to enter 81230 the zipcode for Gunnison CO. about 10 minutes by drive from here when asked tho. I had another Verizon flip phone for years here and never had any problems with it. The bars on the phone are very erratic. I can go from about 1/5 of a bar to 3 bars back and forth while sitting in the same spot, It doesn't seem to matter if I'm inside or outside. Some days I can walk around the house and pick up enough of a signal to call out. Usually the first 2 or 3 calls out I try I will listen to the ring sound and it breaks up pretty badly, I will hang up and keep calling back usually 3 or 4 times, until I get a clear ringtone, and then usually I will have a good enough connection to have a conversation, although It is still breaks up somewhat. This is also the case when I am at work which is about 25 miles from where I live. and also in Gunnison the nearest town, about 10 miles from where I live. A few days ago when I tried to turn on my mobile data the phone said I needed to insert a sim card. I removed the sim card and reinserted it and got the same message. Then I took out the card and the battery waited a few minutes and reinserted them. The wireless worked again. After this I did notice that I started to receive some phone calls, but the connection was still very erratic. I could not hear the person on the other end and would have to call back several times to get a connection. I hope you find this helpful. and again thank-you for your response.
