Texts coming to both our iPhones?

We each have a separate iPhone.  Each has a different phone number.  But some texts sent to my phone get sent to both of our phones. Does not happen all the time. And only seems to be texts to my phone go to his phone as well.  Very frustrating!  How do we stop this double texting?

1. Are you both using iMessage?
2. Are you both using the same Apple ID?

3. Are you signed into both iMessage accounts with the same email address(es)?  Change this.
