Galaxy S3 freezing/restarting after Kitkat 4.4 Update

I updated to Kitkat 4.4 the other day, and ever since it installed my phone now freezes and reboots several times a day. It doesnt matter if any apps are running, or even if the screen is on. I didnt have any problems with the 4.3 update, is there any way to roll back to that?

We want the update to enhance your experience with your S3. Although there is not a way to roll back to Jellybean, we want to troubleshoot this device. Have you tested it in Safe Mode http://bit.ly/RuMIK2? This disables the apps so we can see if there may be an app that may be conflicting with the new update.

Having the same issue, probably 30+ reboots today. Have tried factory reset from settings, factory reset from recovery, tried not reinstalling apps on reboot, tried safe mode. Nothing seems to make a difference, it will reboot while it's sitting there in sleep mode, browsing the internet, charging/not charging, on the phone, etc. Really frustrating and never had an issue before (also there's no sd removable card installed).

Have you tried using your phone without any 3rd party apps installed?

Make sure all of your installed applications are updated--ALL OF THEM. Whether you use them or not.

KIT KAT works completely different from Jelly Bean. Things you can do on JB you can not do on KK. Apps that worked fine on JB may cause serious conflicts with KK.

Only have 1 text messaging app installed on the phone.

Call Verizon and also call Samsung Tech Support with continued issues. They are working on several Kit Kat patches. Not sure if they will help with the older model, but they may.

Thanks, I tried that and it still reboots. I think I've tried most things, now I'm going through doing things like disabling wifi, disabling gps, etc.

i keep having this same problem since last night. looking through the site now to revert my phone to something older just so i can use it. can someone email me or message me if they find a fix of any sort. thanks :smileyhappy:

Unfortunately, it is impossible to revert to an earlier version. They have really locked the device down with the latest OS versions. If you hadn't rooted your phone a couple upgrades ago, you are out of luck.

I'm having the same issues. Ever since I updated my phone it has had massive lag issues and it freezes up randomly so I have to pull out the battery. My phone also froze during the update to kitkat so I had to pull out the battery. Please help my phone has literally became unusable now due to this lag.

I gave in and did the factory reset from the recovery boot screen (hold volume up and home screen button while you turn on the phone) and for the past couple of days my phone batteries have been lasting a whole lot longer with the kit kat update. they went from 3-5 hours of use to 8-14 with me not constantly using it of course. I lost a couple of phone numbers in the wipe but my phone wouldnt stay on long enough to back anything up before. good luck guys and i hope you get your phone back to working right
