My home page shows that I have a new text message but I don't. I've tried a soft reset and that doesn't clear it. How do I clear it?
MerrellD,Sorry to hear that still has not been resolved. As there are many possible causes of the indicator remaining on I will address the most common causes. Delete any unneeded text threads. Go to Google hangouts and make sure there are nothing unread there. If the notification is still there, reset the messaging app: http://vz.to/1nfLfYq . Then also reset Google Hangouts and Badger with that same procedure. If resetting the apps that could be causing the issue does not resolve, go to Settings > Apps(all) > Messaging > Disable. Wipe the cache partition: http://bit.ly/1msdO3K . When the phone powers back on go to Settings > Apps(all) > Disabled apps > Enable messaging app. Let us know how it's working. Hi MerrellD!Let's see what's causing the problem! Which device do you have? When did the problem begin?Thanks,AyaniB_VZWFollow us on Twitter @VZWSupport
A Motorola Droid Ultra.
I also tried removing the SIM card and reseating it but that didn’t work either.
Thanks you for your help!

MerrellD, Thank you for doing the extra troubleshooting. Can you delete all of your text messages and then power cycle the device? By doing that it should remove the phantom message.RobinD_VZWFollow us on twitter @VZWSupport
Hi Robin,
I’ve tried that numerous times (hence the “soft reset” references) as well as removing the SIM card - neither of those methods clear the phantom message indicator.
Thanks,
