Can the HTC One be unlocked for use in China?

I recently upgraded my phone to an HTC One as part of my regular upgrade on my plan.  I also recently found out that I will be leaving for China for two years. What are my options for unlocking my phone so I can take it with me and use it there?  What costs are associated with each option? Thanks in advance for the help and advice.

China sounds fantastic! We offer global travel plans to assist with keeping costs low while outside of the U.S. Use the global travel wizard for service rates while in China http://vz.to/17KseUf . The HTC One is a global device and will work in China. The wizard will assist in advising how to add the international dialing feature on the account before you leave in two years.
