When is the release date for Windows 8.1 update?

When is the release date for Windows 8.1 update? You know I pay my bill every month so that my carrier can provide me with the best service. And yet, I don't see any improvement in my service. It seems like Windowsphone is an inconvenience to Verizon and that is the way they seem to be treating Windowsphone users. Do you have the new Windowsphone in stock? No, but it is available online. Do you have any Windowsphone cases? No but they are available in the the color you want online. Screen protectors? No the 928 screen protector will not fit the Icon, but let me cut up this other one and make it fit.

I was told after I ordered my Icon and called back to ask that here is no set date, but it should not be too long nor should I let that deter me from keeping the order I aplced. i love my Icon, but every other carrier has the update and we should also.

VZW doesn't answers those types of questions here. Don't you know it's a trade secret for VZW to announce software update schedules to it's paying customer.

What do you gain going over to TMobile? If you're hoping they roll out updates faster than VZW you have big thing coming.

If you're switching carriers to get faster Windows Phone updates you might as well go to AT&T.

This is not surprising at all. Customer service doesn't have a clue because the powers that be in upper management hasn't filtered that information down to the support level.

So they go by a script and "Currently, the manufacturer has not released a date for the next update. I know how important these enhancements are and hopefully we will receive a date for you soon." is their best answer to give customers....

Thank you for providing a link for accessories, of course all Windows products and accessories are available online. Ordering accessories online is not helpful when you activate your new Icon in the store and need it to be protected that day, when it becomes your new phone. The in-store experience (I visited 3 different stores) is awful. The employees are not educated on anything related to Windowsphone. They actively tried to discourage me from purchasing 2 Nokias!

I am glad you appreciate my timely payments and I know you have one scheduled for next month. I would appreciate timely service for my device.

It concerns me that Verizon has no active roll in providing prompt service to Windowsphone users. Customer service is only a priority for Android/Apple. While no specific date might be available, it might be helpful to list a time range or give a date and say *subject to change while final developer review is completed. Do no patronize your customers with generic answers!

Don't kid yourself. Updates are not pushed to Android phones any quicker than Windows phones and no timetable is provided UNTIL the update is already being pushed to the phones.

iPhones are a different story and Verizon has absolutely nothing to do with updates to these phones. iPhone updates are performed via Apple and iTunes. Verizon has nothing to do with it.

If only ALL phone manufacturers would provide updates the same way as Apple does, then all complaints for prompt updates and problems/concerns with those updates would be aimed at the manufacturer as they should.

I am a busy guy. I don't have time to learn all the in and outs of the cell phone business. I did my job in researching the phone that I wanted, something Verizon sales people made more difficult than it needed to be. I subscribe for continuous service and that is what I expect to get. I would like my update now or at least know when it will be released. Am I being an impatient and disgruntled customer? Yes I am.

Verizon person please crawl back under your rock if all you got is trash and a place to get more junk mail. How about a real answer instead. Like we keep asking where is the Cyan firmware and Windows 8.1 update? All we get from Verizon is silence and lies. AT&T has released them why is Verizon still holding them up?

Also you must remember that Verizon has to take time to add their bloatware to the stock image they are provided by the OS manufacturer. Apple can do updates directly because they included in their contract with the carriers that the carriers are not permitted to touch the OS by adding their own carrier junk to it. When you use an iphone, it doesn't have 10 Verizon apps installed that can't be uninstalled or even in some cases, can't be disabled. The OS update for any iphone is the same, regardless of carrier, which is why Apple can push those out directly to the devices. Verizon is notorious for adding apps and features that can't be removed and they will take their time to ensure they can add of their own junk.

Waiting for updates on Windows Phone from Verizon is no different than an Android or BlackBerry update. Verizon is almost always the last to update, regardless of platform.

Some bloatware can be installed. Some can't.

The only bloatware VZW installs on Windows Phone that cannot be uninstalled is the Backup Assistant all others can.
