Verizon, I am not happy with the note 3 reception

I am dripping calls everywhere! I had a RAZR Maxx prior to this and never ever had an issue. It's been almost 7 months since I got the note 3, I drop calls everywhere even in walmart! I have no reception many places in school where I did with my RAZR. What am I supposed to do if my family has an emergency and they can't get in touch with me because of this reception issue?

Engineers have escalated it, replaced my Sim and factory reset. No fixing the problem. I even swapped my phone with my wife's note 3 and the same thing happen! I have 3 little kids at home and need to be in touch with my medical community, I need a phone I can depend on. Not this type of garbage. What is going on with the note 3?!

Yes i have same issue. This is my second note 3 and have same issue. I also replace my Sims card twice with no luck. I think this is just a hardware issue and no one wants to take the blame.

Who uses their Note 3 for calls?

Samsung Galaxy smart phones are great for so much---except for making calls. Its worse for call and sound quality. Get use to it.

But there are a few things you can do to improve drop calls, fading in and out, static and poor call quality.

1) Turn off all your bloatware applications that you are not using. Remove SIM card for a few minutes and then restart the phone.

You can turn off these apps yourself thru the App Manager, or you can use a security app like CLEAN MASTER to identify which apps you can turn off without harming your phone and walk you thru the steps. Steps are to a) Remove updates b) Turn Service Off c) Stop the Service. If your phone is Rooted, well you know what to do.

2) At least once a month or so, remove your SIM card for at least 5 mins and replace to refresh network connectivity.

3) Monitor your downloaded apps that you install. Certain apps with permissions can affect Network connectivity. I have had the Epic, Galaxy S3, Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy S4...these tricks will help with your calls. If it gets too bad, use your warranty and get another phone. My experience is that every replacement I get from Verizon is crap, but my Assurion or Samsung replacements are great.

4) After you have done all the above, Dont hesitate to change your SIM card every so often. Pop into a Verizon store and get a new SIM Card or have them mail you one for free.

I am in the zip code 62901 and the outcome of the trouble ticket was that it was fixed but it really wasn't. No change occurred. I was in walmart last night and the call dropped 6 times. I could barely ask my family if there was anything else they needed. In my own dining room I lose reception. I've already done all the factory reset, changing the mode to CDMA/LTE rather than global, turned off the auto WiFi and even factory reset it again. 3 times till now. I even followed the advice posted above and it is just incredibly frustrating. My phone is non functional as a phone. I really love the device but the basic functionality is not there. Despite living in a well covered 4g area both out phones are always on "extended network"

The most frustrating thing is CONSISTENTLY not being able to reach my family and soon patients.

I appreciate you trying device and SIM replacement, Daniel2424. Does the call quality seem to be lower in certain a certain zip code? Are the difficulties usually indoors or all around town too? Has a ticket been opened prior to one of the replacements being sent?

The zip-code is 30043 and 30022. I had talk to tech support and he stated the area i was in had good reception. There has been a ticket open and a replacement phone has been sent. This will be my 3rd Note 3 phone. I had paid full retail for this phone and this is just weird. If i have replace phone that much it either a network issue or hardware issue. I think it a hardware issue and someone needs to take responsibly for the issue. Replace phones doesn't work and if i have the same issue with the phone i am about to received what does that tell you?

Not only Visual Voicemail. Everything sucks since this update. Phone is slow. Only picks up after power cycling, AND then only for a little while. Ridiculous. I understand crap happens, but when you call and they make it seem as if this is the first time they are hearing of any such thing!!! It blows. One is supposed to be able to trust a company like Verizon. Now they are acting like some cut-rate phone company

Please reread what I wrote. When I had the RAZR Maxx regardless of my location I had left reception. Yesterday whilst outside my calls were dropped more than 5 times. It went from 4 bars to 1 bar then back to 4 bars. 1 bar then finally it just said mobile network is not available. This is under a clear sky in a dense 4g LTE area.

mine is the same way. never had an issue before, but now i cant even use my phone most of the time!!! I am not happy at all. verizon needs to fix this. I have had their service for 15yrs and always paid on time and upgraded countless times. i have 5 lines and pay them over 200 per month. My wife has the note 2 and we can be sitting beside each other and she has great service and i suddenly have none!!!

i bought this phone because i wanted the gear & at that time it was the only one it worked with. so yeah i spent over 600 bucks that day and now i have a cool watch and a phone that works rarely ever!!!! i can use the wifi but not the phone or texting! epic fail!

I know this is not the same phone.. but since April 20 I have been having the Same issues in my samsung note 2.. NO one knows how to fix it.. they keep through in used phones and simple cards at me expecting a different result.. now I am going into week 6 with no resolve. .. I can guess to say there won't be one as they keep trying to talk me into BUYING another phone as they can't fix my note 2

if you could fix this.. i would have tears of joy !! seriously ..... i live in zipcode 15241... if you have the ability to see who i am and look up my account and see the notes... you better get some coffee its going to be alot of reading.. i welcome any and all things you want to try to fix this.. as i type this i am activating phone number??? 8-10? i lost track..

I am having the same issues!! Since purchasing the Note 3 in October i have had nothing but issues. I went through all the steps and eventually I was sent a different phone, which was working for the most part until the recent upgrade. Now I am back to the old issues, no service, it actually says not moblie network available, when everyone else in my family has coverage and are on my plan with iphones. I am missing text messages and dropping calls left and right. This is unacceptable for the cost of this phone and my service. I have did a hard reset etc. What else can I do??

Let's explore options to resolve your service concerns sjackee! What text messaging application are you using? Your phone should be able to find mobile network all the time, to reconnect to the network please power off>remove SIM card for one minute>insert SIM card>Power on, and test. Keep us posted.

I am not sure what you mean by which text app I am just using the text message app that was installed on the phone when I got it. I have tired your suggestions however it doesn't appear to be working. I am missing calls etc.

I'm having the same issues. I've gone thru 4-5 warranty replacements but all have this issue. I can't get a consistent signal at home and work. Can't even make phone calls at home.

Thanks for clarifying! I definitely want you to be able to use your phone. You mentioned this started after the recent software update. Have you performed a hard reset since the update. It is recommended after major updates. Some 3rd party apps may no longer be compatible with the new software and can cause service issues. Please try this http://vz.to/1pCsKxh and retest. Im very unhappy with my reception. I even had verizon send me a replacement, but when I used it it was even worse. I will be in the same place as my wife who has the note 2, and her reception is fine. What do I do Verizon? This phone is almost unusable.

I have the same issue with my Note 3. It is utterly useless in my house. Can't make calls or send texts consistently. It's extremely frustrating. Meanwhile my wife is texting away just fine on her Note 2! I've already been through one replacement. Verizon reps have finally admitted there is a know issue with the phone. It seems pretty apparent to me that this is a hardware issue, which is completely unacceptable for such a high end device. I don't care if my data speed is slow at home but to note be able to make calls or send/receive texts in my house is ridiculous! My zip code is 18055. Supposedly in a 4g LTE location and it bounces between 4g/3g/1x all the time. Considering giving TMO a try, just need a new phone that works in my house.

Here's the thing folks. Despite the lip service we're getting from Verizon in these forums, there is nothing they can do. From my extensive research with this issue and my Note 3, this is an issue with the antennas Samsung is using. Could it be fixed with a software patch? Who knows. It's worth a shot though.

What Verizon needs to do for it's loyal customers is press Samsung to get this fixed. My Droid Razr Maxx was fantastic when it came to signal strength. My Note 3 absolutely sucks. 10 minutes outside of St Paul I don't have service. My house which is south and east of st Paul has a bar or two. IN MINNEAPOLIS......no service. Everywhere I go it seems, the service is terrible....And that was never an issue with my Razr Maxx. Never.

I am completely fed up with this and I must say, those TMobile ads look mighty nice right about now.

Verizon, do the right thing.....admit that there is a problem with the phones and get it fixed. Whether that means issuing a software patch on you're end or lighting a fire under Samsung to get it fixed.

I would much rather you admit there is a problem and get it fixed rather than give us lip service on a internet forum. In my eyes, great customer service is taking care of an issue in a timely manner. That will make your customers stick with you. Because many of us are ready to leave.

I'm in Shreveport, LA and I'm being told the same thing. There is a radio update that Samsung needs to send out to these devices. EVERYONE I know that has this phone with Verizon all started having the same issue just a month or so before the AWS spectrum went live for the XLTE network. Even the store reps I know are having the issue and not just in Shreveport. I wish Verizon would at least admit the issue. I've been with Verizon since 09 and never had reception issues at all. I drop 9-10 calls a day now...maybe more.

Yet Verizon continues sending auto-bot responses and have yet to acknowledge the OBVIOUS problem they caused with the updates. Instead of patronizing about "Great information, thanks!", resetting the phone, "Regretful", etc- Verizon should simply admit screwing up and give an estimate of a fix release.

Verizon did no update to your device. Verizon did not touch the code. Contact the maker of your device.

It is not a Verizon wireless issue. Verizon sell you service to the cellular and data service if you have a functional device.

I am having similar issues in the 40601 area code and most area codes I have visited. The Note 3 cell signal issues have always been there but arenoticeably worse since the Android 5 update. I can be standing next to my wife and not have a signal at all, while she is able to call and talk on her Galaxy S4.

DrDreams the first year I had my note 3 it was flawless. Then Verizon started rolling the updates for the next operating system. Unfortunately we are test dummies for this phone. All Note 3 smartphones have turned into junk. I been with vzw for 15 years and I know what to expect signal wise. I drop calls are the time. Their scheme to try to get me to buy a new phone worked. I'm waiting to upgrade. G'luck to you. No matter what you do the updates and the way the network communicate are flawed. Vzw will not do anything about it. From the looks of it all over this forum; we have all tried one time wasting troubleshooting step or another. The employees do not even know what to do themselves. They didnt come up with the software. The only real way to resolve this is get customers new phones but of course its verizon and they wont do that.

Same problems in Memphis area (901). Phone seems to revert to EXTENDED NETWORK constantly even though I'm in 3G coverage according to Verizon. Rest of my family has iPhones and they never have these issues. I was at a friends cabin on a lake recently and I had no reception at all on my Note 3. His iPhone had at least three bars the whole time. Obviously this is a hardware problem and there will be no fix. I hate to say it, but looks like I'll make the big jump to apple when I can upgrade without paying a mortgage payment for a new phone.
