Last week my Galaxy S4 phone indicated it needed an SD card. SD card has always been in the slot. Why doesn't my S4 recognize it?
Great question petersrhp! This can actually occur from time to time. Have you removed and reinserted the SD Card? Often times this will correct the issue. Please keep us posted once this is completed, thanks!MatthewS_VZWFollow us on Twitter @VZWSUPPORT
I removed SD card and battery. Still said, Mount SD card". I went to my
local verizon store and replaced SD card. I lost all my tones and pics.

Thanks for trying a new SD card petersrhp. I'm sorry to hear about the lost pictures and music. Is the new card being recognized and functioning now?JonathanK_VZWVZWSupportFollow Us on Twitter@VZWSupport
sd cards die & need to be replaced...lesson to be learned, have whatever's on the sd card backed up somewhere.

Mine did the same thing today. On the S4 when turning it on, the notification bar said "removing SD card" then "preparing SD card" - my music disappeared from the music folder, however, my pics are still in the gallery. When I put the SD card into a reader on my computer, the music is still there. HOWEVER, the phone isn't reading it. I can't understand why.
