Why is Google Maps saying 'Location Mode isn't Supported?'

Question

Google Maps works well on our new HTC One until you request directions.  Then, the phone returns "Location Mode Isn't Supported."  A chat session with Verizon didn't resolve the problem.

Does anyone else have this problem?  Have a solution?

Thanks for your reply.  The service works now that I have set the Location Mode to "High Accuracy."  That setting wasn't clear to me from my chat session or the screen messages.
