How do I back up contacts?

I need to change phones from my Samsung Galaxy S4 to an iPhone 5S. How do I back up my contacts so I don't loose them before I switch?

i have all my contacts in gmail/contacts....as soon as gmail is setup on the new phone, within gmail, check what you want to synchronize & your contacts/mail/calendar are there.
