The Kitkat update seemed to install without a hitch. That was until I went do dim the screen via the notification dropdown menu and it's gone. Of course, the checkmark in the display settings is there to 'allow brightness adjustment from notification dropdown.' I've tried to turn it off and back on and reboot the phone. Maybe a factory reset's in order? Sure, I've got 8 hours to burn reconfiguring you! I love wasting a perfectly good Saturday to deal with a phone that was working perfectly before this 4.4 update! Perfectly!
And this is in addition to the screen's proximity sensor remaining active during a speakerphone call. You know, that call from mom that you put on speaker with hopes of being able to still use your phone? You'd better keep your hand and fingers away from the top of the screen or it will turn off. Move your finger away? Screen comes back on. I love it! Wouldn't you think it'd be smart enough to know that when the phone's on speakerphone, that it's NOT up against your ear and that you don't need the proximity sensor? Nope!
I love Android. I love Samsung. Why do they keep screwing these phones up with updates? I've been living this nightmare with the Motorola Bionic, Razr, and now the Samsung S3 and the Note 3. I want to keep loving them but it's truly getting harder!
Help me change my mind, Verizon!
