Horrible battery life after 4.4.2

I got my phone swapped under Best Buy service. Since I had been rooted I was stuck at 4.1 something, when I got the replacement phone went through two updates. Now with it running 4.4.2 the battery life is horrendous. In six hours I went from the very full 100% to less then 10%. According to the battery manager I had 10 minutes of display time, the Data turned off, Bluetooth, GPS and I had done a factory reset the night before. I hadn't added any apps, I have tried multiple batteries, and chargers. So I have ruled out hardware, and outside software. This has to be an issue with 4.4.2.

Since I want to keep my unlimited data I have to buy a phone outright. I have two days where I lose out on a bunch money my guaranteed price from Best Buy. So I don't even have time to try to another replacement phone and stop the update past 4.3. Any ideas?

We want you to get the full use out of your phone like you should. It is not unusual for for an increase in battery drain during the course of the first week after software is updated as the operating system optimizes itself during that time. If we are having trouble past that point there are a few things you can do to improve battery life. Let's see if we can find what is causing that trouble. From your home screen, press the menu button in the lower left and select "Settings." Scroll down to "Battery" and touch that. Here is where you will see how much each app is using of your battery life. If you see an obvious culprit we can stop, uninstall or turn off the app.

Another thing you can do, press the back button and touch "Power saving mode." Turn it on and at first I would enable each option for saving power consumption. As this seems to have occured when the software updated there is more thing I would suggest. Power the phone off and remove the battery for 30 seconds. Replace the battery and cover and then wipe the cache partition: http://vz.to/1z6muAY . Charge the device fully and use as you normally would. If the problem still persists place the phone in Safe Mode: http://vz.to/1i7G9Eq . If you have normal battery life solely in SafeMode the problem is probably a 3rd party app. Selectively uninstall them.

I have a similar problem, and I think it is related to the network. When I move around, the phone heats up like it is working extra hard to find the next network connection. I tried to look at Battery, and I see that Android System is using up 37% and Google Services are using up 13%, with only 3% Device Idle and 3% cell standby. That seems like a lot for Android system. I stopped Cloud and uninstalled Xfinity, each of which were using 7%. I don't use Verizon Cloud and I can do without finding Xfinity hotspots which don't work very well anyway. But I still have this increased battery drain problem especially when I move around and am switching between WiFi and 4G and 3G.

This all started when I upgraded to KitKat. Scanning this forum, there are lots of power problems.
