Very disappointed 15-year customer of Verizon:
1) I ordered at 7:00am eastern on 7/15. received order confirmation but no shipping confirmation.
2) called csr 11 hours later. he said don't worry, it'll ship next day even without confirmation.
3) 24 hours later, still no confirmation. sent email to internet order address shown on order confirmation. no response.
4) 30 hours later, contacted second csr. very apologetic, but says order will ship 7/23. no offer of credit or accessories. when i asked, she said she could give me a discount on an accessory.
5) 36 hours later, posted all this to one of these forums. moderator said she escalated it and someone would contact me.
6) 68 hours later. nada. nothing. zip from Verizon!
Now I'm reading about $100 credits, 20% off bills for 6 months, and free car chargers for some customers. Please spread the love Verizon.

This is the FIRST phone I have EVER been this prepared for.... I've never owned the "latest release" and I planned this one to have it on 7/15. Thanks to mistakes 100% on their end and them being "unprepared" (uh, yea right), I have to wait 2 more weeks.
It's a phone. I have something works fine for now. Just a little ticked off after all the seemingly deceitful methods the company is throwing out there with some of it's long-time customers (not to mention other customers).
I still have not received ANY SORT of "confirmation" or "thanks for your order" emails.......oh, but they billed my account within 15 minutes of me ordering the phone.
Take care of your customers, Verizon!

I totally agree on all points.
I've been a long time customer. They have had their ups and downs but in the end, they have done a pretty good job of making things right, that is why I have stuck behind them. This time however, customer service (in my own personal experience) was totally lacking. There were many (thousands??) of orders that fell through the cracks from the customers who were most anxiously anticipating this new device. These people were ready to be the first 'cheerleaders' for Verizon to get a new product out there. And what was the reward for staying up late to be one of the first to order?.....NOTHING. No information, no assistance, no support, certainly no Droid! I personally talked to at least 10 CSR's and could not ever get an answer as to why my order was stuck pending. I ordered my phone at 12:40 AM EDT and got a purchase confirmation. Nothing ever changed after that. In reading the forums here, it seems that this same thing happened to many others. It seems that those who were most anticipating getting this new phone were the ones who ended up getting the 'shaft'
I know my experience was very, very poor. Even more disappointing was that Verizon really had an opportunity to handle the situation better and they didn't. Actually, it really didn't even seem like they cared.

I have had no problems whatsoever with this amazing phone that could just be my last phone ever (for 2 years).
Ordered it over the phone on the 15th at 8AM ET and got it the next day.
I know I'm one of the lucky ones, and I'm not writing on this topic to rub it in to you guys... I originally got the Incredible (after a 3 week wait) and returned it because it wasn't great, and because this beast of a phone is infinitely better...
I'm not writing on this topic to rub in my good fortune, but instead to tell you all to hang in there! When it finally does come, it'll be WELL worth the wait. I've been playing with it for the better part of a week, and everytime I pick it up, I'm still amazed by how awesome it is!

Their website always says, "Your order is currently being processed. Please check back tomorrow." When I read other posts, I would think that it would've at least processed by now and I would've gotten a different message on the site.

Ok, so here's my update. I called VZW just to make sure my order was in their system and the first CSR I talked to (Cathy in WA state) was clueless and couldn't repeat basic things of what I had just told her. I spent 29 minutes on the phone with her. She did inform me that my order in the system had a date of 7/20 (not 7/18 as my confirmation e-mail and VZW website lists). This didn't make me too happy so we went around for a little while and I finally asked to talk to the internet services e-care system (that's what she called it). She didn't know the number and sounded like she just wanted me off the phone despite me being very cordial with her. She was feeding me some half-truths so I called her out on all of them and then asked if her supervisor had that number. She told me she would connect me to them but I asked for the number instead so I wouldn't be disconnected. She told me that they would tell me the same thing she said...(NOT!) I didn't really think that the # she gave would be valid anyway...(800-350-2830). I called it and wouldn't you believe it to be the same CSR # that I originally called w/ a different extension! I was right. Maybe I should've put Cathy on hold until I talked with the next CSR.
The new CSR Aisha (sp?) was more professional and wasn't agitated like Cathy was and she had a better grasp on the situation. My payment for the DX wasn't processed until 7/20 (which makes sense if I ordered it on Saturday 7/17 and it takes 2 business days to process a payment. Unfortunately, my phone won't be shipped now until 8/3 instead of 7/27 like the order site said when I placed the order...O'well but at least someone at VZW isn't so new at being a CSR (Cathy) to tell me that the Droid X is a popular phone. No kidding, really Cathy!? Good luck...patiently waiting for my phone now that I know VZW has an order in their system despite what their online order status site says...."still processing..."
Call them like I eventually did. At least you'll know its in their system but don't be surprised if the order date is a couple days past your confirmation e-mail.

I am a long-time customer as well. But this is a big company with ?,???,??? customers which inevitably limits how they can personalize their customer interface. It is dehumanizing to the extent that you are one of millions. The only solution is to find a phone company with far fewer customers.

based on the timing that my order FINALLY updated on the order status page I'm betting that my order fell through the cracks someplace and no one really cared to go looking for it. It is WAY too much of a coincidence that I received my email response and the order status updated right after I called in to the department that actually took the order. Luckily a CSR gave me their direct number as it is NOT listed on verizonwireless.com... check the Droid Incredible forums though...it's listed there.

We'll just have to wait and see.

Yeah in fact i just called again right before, and they said it'll be shipped on 8/3. Now what's the point in ordering it and having it sent on the deadline date. I expected it a little before 8/3 to be shipped. We'll see what happens

I ordered mine online on 7/15 and got it shipped overnight for free. I also got a $100 credit for the "new every two" program, a $100 discount for ordering online, and another discount for signing a 2 year agreement (that I'd sign anyway). And I got another 10% off because I had found a promo code. I also got a special package deal on an accessories package.
So, in total, I got a Droid X shipped overnight; a car dock, a car charger, a 3 pack of screen protectors, and a clear plastic case protector for a total of $150 and change. So sorry if I can't complain!

I'm actually more than a little annoyed by all this. I went to a verizon store and ordered on Friday, 7/30. Horrible in store experience, but I'll leave that for another forum, but the guy said it would ship by the 4th. I called 611 yesterday, and they told me no, by the 11th. Now I start looking at the forums, and people who ordered online even AFTER I did are getting ship notifications, and in some cases have even RECEIVED their phones! This is ridiculous, inventory is inventory. NOT cool. Furthermore, online orders get free overnight and I'm stuck with two day shipping. AND online orders get the instant rebate instead of the mail in. Even more ridiculous.
Why even have brick and mortar stores if the service is going to be terrible, and then I'm going to be treated as a second class citizen even after I suffer the horrible in store experience? Not a good showing, Verizon. Treat all orders equally, and get your crap together in your brick and mortar stores.
A little homework goes a long way. I had no idea if I ordered online the rebate was instant, but as soon as I saw that, I ordered online.
As for others ordering after you getting their phone, if that is the case, make sure the order went through. Maybe there is a CC issue or something.
I apologize that you think I'm some kind of idiot by not ordering online. I also apologize that you belive I'm some sort of deadbeat for having my card rejected. However, I can assure you that my DEBIT card was accepted, and the order is active in the system awaiting shipment. I can also assure you that I had reason to go to a brick and mortar store to speak with a consultant about my account, rather than step through the somewhat wonky ordering system that wanted to change my account and remove applied discounts. As I alluded, the rep was terrible, and there was a lot of time wasted, hence my unhappiness with the in store experience.
So instead of getting snarky about my research and reasons for using the retail location, maybe you should take a look at my actual gripe: Verizon clearly does not provide the same level of service to online orders as they do their retail stores. Exact same thing here, ordered the same day and was told it would ship early this week. Called *611 and said it would ship out by the 11th. Since we can't even check our orders online if you order in a store you are just left to sit and wait for an email from FedEx. Very frustrating.
Ordered online at 3:30 pm, on 7/28/10. Delivered by FedEx on 8/4/10,1:30 p.m.

You were upset that you do not have your phone yet and that ordering online is overnight shipping along with other concerns.
NOT ONCE did I think you were an idiot. NOR did I think you were a deadbeat. I offered reasons as to why you may not have your phone when you say others do, and that YOU SHOULD CALL to find out why it is not there.
Remember with a Debit card, more will be 'held' than what you need for some purchases. For example, lets say you have $300 presently on the card, you use your card to get $30 of gas. The station not knowing how much you are buying will put a hold of anywhere from $75-$100 even though you purchased $30. This REDUCES the amount another company may have available for a purchase. It can take up to three days for the 'money' to be released for other uses The next company may hold $300 for a $199 purchase to insure there will be money there for the purchase.
Remember you are welcome to vent, However, If you are going to come and complain. we will be here to try and offer ideas as to why you may be having an issue to hopefully help it get corrected.
Ordered mine via phone sales on 7/21/2010. Was told it would be sent 2 day mail and arrive by friday 7/23. I asked VZW rep four times if she was sure about that per the store reps and online site were saying its on back order until 8/2. She repeatedly said she was sure...even said VZW keeps a special "reserve stock" to sell at there discretion. I drank the juice. Called VZW the next morning after not receiving a tracking # via email as usual. That rep lied again and said its on the way.
Called friday morning again and was FINALLY told the truth....."Sir, we aplogize for the inconvenience but your phone is backordered and won't be shipped until 8/2." Smh..........
Confirmation number popped up in email on 7/25.....phone arrived at door on 7/28.
Now I'm back to waiting....this time for 2.2 aka Froyo. Yes VZW...I'm your **bleep**.

Ordered online on 8/5 at about 6:30PM. Just getting the message that it will be shipped when stock is available. No date yet.
This is bull excrement. I ordered mine on 8/3 at 12:00pm and was told it won't be shipped until 8/19. I'm hoping the rep i talked to today is just a simpleton. (Better verizon mod?) lol
Ordered 08/05/10 3:30 PM .... checking everyday for something new still waiting for an email ... ... kinda talked to CS and told me would be shipped by 8/23 but might ship a week before that date
